Love this site, everyone is wonderful! I have been reseaching my Mother's family history in Norway, it is an exciting and challenging journey. Finding others with a similar interest is fabulous. I don't know the Norweigian language, tried translation software & dictionary without success then found a site with translations of common language in old Parish records which helped greatly. I started with my Grandmother born in 1893 and her siblings all born in Oslo, plus their parents names and Arkivverket.no and family history from a dear relative.
Our family seems to have roots in Asker, Ullensager/Ullensaker area. Tracing has been interesting due to naming practices and translating, hopefully I am on the correct path. I seem to be getting stuck in the Chronolical records. The last person I feel is correct is Arne Michelssen of Waarum (Vaarum) born 2 Aug 1750 Parish Birth record is: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_id=7639&uid=ny&idx_side=-157 I am hoping to verify parents and siblings, so far the records I've found are: 1748 Marriage pg 68, 1st line far left Michel Amundsön Waarum to Mari Hansdaater Giödal although the witness names don't seem to be parents which I'm told is tradition. http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7644&idx_id=7644&uid=ny&idx_side=-35
No birth record found for Mari but a death/burial records for 1763,
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7644&idx_id=7644&uid=ny&idx_side=-148 think Mari died at 38 yr. left side pg 102, line 4 and her son, Hans (d. 12 ? months) line 25 died the same year and husband Michel Amundsön in 1766 at age 50yr 7mo. I have found birth records for 7 children & 6 died before their parents, only Arne Michelssen survived. Found Arne's marriage to Barbara Christophersdtr 1782, they died only 10 days apart in 1813 and found birth records for 4 of their children.

Do these look like a family connected? Has anyone been successful with the older Chronological Lists? What is the secret? If there are other methods to search please give me a hint. I have been searching through the Parish pages, first for a farm name then keeping notes of the people listed to see if there might be a family connection for example similar names and if the dates would work. The really hard part is figuring out what event has been recorded, wonder if they would have taken care writing if they knew how many would be using the information so many years later . Also, does anyone know how to figure out which Parish a farm is under? I have a couple farms names listed on marriage records for brides I have yet to find any information on farms Giödal, ? Jogstand ?, ?Mojineie ?.

On a 1716 Chronological list I found what looks like farm Vaarum with similar names Ingeborg Michelsdtr 19th line down and Amund Michels 24th line on page 85 far right column. http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7637&idx_id=7637&uid=ny&idx_side=-86 I'm not sure what information has been recorded possibly Communion for both. The problem would be Amund Michels would not fit the naming pattern unless he was possibly the grandfather of Arne Michelssen and Ingeborg is possibly Amund Michels sibling. These discoveries can be so emtional.... Then I found a Michel Vaarum og ? hard to read what is written on the 14th line far left column of Akershus county, Ullensaker, Parish (1689-1701) Chronological List 1689 at http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7635&idx_id=7635&uid=ny&idx_side=-7 (possibly a marriage record) Could Michel Vaarum & ? (cannot read the writing) be the parents of Amund Michels? The thrill of discovery and the agony of defeat. Oh my, I have gotten carried away... as you can see this is a weakness.

Wishing everyone the very best, may all your dreams come true,

Langbent

Hi,
you have a lot of questions here... possibly too many in one shot...

This might be of interest.
There is a farm named Jødal in Ullensaker. Old spelling would be Giødal, pronunciation is the same.

- he was not born on that day, it is the baptismal date.

Jogstad is in Skedsmo, Akershus, see O. Rygh Norwegian Farm names.
Jogstad

I think your Møjineie is a place under the farm Møien which also is in Skedsmo, Akershus.

Ingeborg Michelsdatter was engaged with widower Johan Ertmandsen on Jan 26 1716.
Amund Michelsen was one of the witnesses.
