Hello.
I'm doing research in the Hitterdal-boken. And found a line in the book that isn't translating well with my translation source.
"I kirkeboken staar: Ellev Torjusen Odegaar der av raseri skjøt sig ihjel, or efter antat resolution blev buired uden klokker. gl. 60 aar."
(page 392, 83.4.I.5 ... for anyone who has a copy of this bygdebok)
All I can make out is that "The Church book reads: ..." and something in reference to rage, death, and 60 years?

Ellev Torjusen Odegaar, which out of fury shot himself to death, or after presumed determination, was buried without the parish clerk (bell-ringer), 60 yrs. old.

| I think what "raseri" refers to is actually madness. "Uden klokker" might indicate that he was buried without the usual ceremony, as suicide was considered a sin. "He went mad and shot him self, and was buried without a ceremony". |

Hi.
The reason of Torjus sad fate can be the following:
Torjus married a 2. time 1780 to Ingeborg Olsdatter (he had 7 children with his 1. wife Thone who died 1776). Torjus and Ingeborg got a son who was buried 10 weeks old March 1783, Ingeborg died Jan 1783 and Torjus was buried August 1783.
