Hi, first time so hoping someone can help.
I'm trying to find if I can trace any sailors records.
I am looking for Nils Andersson Westergren born 1837 in Norway and a sailor - that's all I know!
He married a Liverpool girl and settled there.

I don't know if it's possible but was wondering if marine records exist which may help me track down where in Norway he came from

Hi.

In 1865 there were only two Westergren living in Norway.
Could be he was from Bergen.
Hatmaker Frans August Westergren born Sweden and wife Anna Westergen born Johannesen b. in Bergen, a fosterdaughter from Sweden and a fosterson, see here.
If they were Nils parents I do not know, can´t find him in Norway in the1865 census.

Frans Westergren and Anne Johannesen married in Nykirken, Bergen, Jan. 31. 1847 so most likely they were not his parents if he was not born out of wedloc.

Nils Anderson Westergren.
Wonder if his father was Anders (Anders son/Anderson) and Westergren was a familyname.
Could be his father was Anders Westergren.

Many ifs, sorry.
