Anders Pedersen was born March 1 and baptized in church (Wangen) March 7 1819. He was born out of wedlock and his mother was maiden Torbiør Colbensdatter, Berge and the father bachelor Peder Andersen, Berge. The Godparents from Berge was, Colben, Godskalk, Ingebor and Mari. The 5th one was Anders Wæthe. |

Thank you for the translation, Einar. It confirmed what I believed.
One more thing -- what are the two words that come after Torbiør's name: it looks like "idlorgh til Barnes[*]", also in the column "Daabs Datum" it says he was born "i ***han". I could not make out those words and am wondering if they mean anything.
I am trying to find Torbiør after she gives birth to Anders and thought perhaps that she died in childbirth. [Anders lived on his father's farm until he left for America, but I have yet to find Torbiør because she seems to disappear from records.]
Thanks again for your help.

The column "Daabs datum enten i kirken eller hjemme" = Date of baptism, either church or home. It says: "7th Marts Døbt i kirken" = 7th of march baptised in church. Date of birth you will find in the column "Aar og Datum" = Year and date. It looks like he was born "1th F. M. (Forrige Maaned)"= the 1th last month (february)

The two words after Torbiørs name are "udlagt til Barnefader" = said to be the childs father - then comes the fathers name Peder Andersen.
Regarding the birth date it says "1st e d. M." meaning the first of this month = March 1 as stated in my posting. In the baptismal column it says as Rune have stated "Døpt i Kirken" = Wangen church.

Thank you, Einar and Rune, for your help -- I was hoping that some of those extra words would mean that there would have been some information on this record about Torbiør but this does not seem to be the case.
All I know is that she was a servant on the Berge farm, I know her birthdate (1777) and the names of her parents (she, too, was born out of wedlock to Kolben Pedersen Hommedal and Brita Larsdatter) and that she was confirmed in Voss, but other than giving birth to Anders on the Berge farm, there does not seem to be a record for her.
Have a good evening and thank you again! |

Even though you have the info on Torbiør I have looked into the records. Her baptism Nov 7 is the 4th record from bottom of left page. The mother Brita Larsdatter was then on Lodve-ejet.
When Torbiør was confirmated in 1795 she was a servant at Eide, see #33.
In 1801 Torbiør was a servant at Himle Øvre.
I have looked for evidence in persons moving out of Voss as well as death records. So far found no records for Torbiør.
