Hi. I am Rich Sommer. I am trying to track the origin of my great, great grandparents from the Dahle farm in Sogn.
If anyone can help me find the Dahle farm, it would be greatly appreciated.

To my knowledge there is no Dahle farm in Sogn og Fjordane. If the spelling would be Dale, you can find about 8 farms with that name.
Tracking ancestors is best done by names, dates and farms. Do you have any names and dates?

I found the passenger list from the schooner Dietrich from Bergen to New York in 1850. Passengers 28-34 are consitent with the meager records we have.

The reunion write up says Dahle from Sogn. That is about it. It could be a much wider are on the Sogn fiord.
Below is the link. Your help is appreciated.

A girl Ingeborg, born 17 Apr 1828. Dead?

Ole, born 18 Oct 1840. Dead?
Ole, born 18 Jul 1844. Dead?
Ole, born 31 Dec 1848. Dead 7 Jan 1849.

Thank You Jan Peters

This is amazing in one day. Wow, I will stay on it.

If you have any information on the family in the US that would help. What I have is pretty sketchy.

Thank you again \

Rich

Where did they live in the US and what last name or names did they use. For example where in 1860 or 1870 do you think they lived.

You can find out a lot of information from searching the records within Digitalarkivet. Looking at the marriage record for Niels and Guri you can see that her maiden name was Guri Olsdatter Hellen and her father was Ole Wilhelmsen Hellen. Searching the 1801 Census you can find an Ole Wilhelmsen in Nordre Bergenhus (old name for Sogn og Fjordane) on the Helden farm. Guro was not yet born but this could be her famly.

1801

- Based on the marriage record Guro was born approx 1805, the possiblity that Ole Wilhelmsen (53 years) and Ragnilda Jacobsdatter (53 years) in the 1801 census are her parents is very slight. Only a baptismal record will be a proof.

Gurri is born 28 May 1805. Her parents are Ole Wilhelmsen Helden and Ragnilda Jacobsdatter.

Niels Olsen Dale is born 11 Feb 1804. Parents are Ole Iversen Dale & Ingebiør Nielsdr.
They did also have a son Niels born 21 Oct 1802. He died only 1 month old, on 17 Nov 1802.

If the age in the 1801 census is correct there seems to be no problems with fertility in this case!
Widower Ole Wilhelmsen, Hellen in Wiig parish and maiden Ragnilde Jacobsdatter were married June 12 1785 in Winje parish, Hordaland, see #5.
Ole Wilhelmsens first son Wilhelm was baptized March 5 1781, see 3rd record on right page. Ole Wilhelmsens first wife was Ingebor Andersdatter. They were married July 1 1775 in Vig, see next to the last couple on right
page. Ole came from Dale and Ingebor from Helden.

Ragnild Jakobsdatter, Helden died April 16 1858 94 years old, see #26 - born approx 1764, age in 1801 approx 37 years, birth in 1805 approx 41 years - normal fertility then.

Ole Wilhelmsen and Ragnilde Jacobsdatter had the following children:
Jacob (1786), Ingebor (1788), Giertru (1791), Thor (1792), Brita (1795), Giertru (1798), Ole (1801), Kari (1802) and Gurri (1805)

This is Rich again, I asked originally about my great, great gradnparents. Now, I feel like I have a Nowegian history back to 1745.
I have two more questions.

1. Can any one tell me where the Dale farm in Vik is located. I was in Vik in 1997. I visited the Stave Church, in fact there is a replica of the Vik church in Moorehead Mn/Fargo ND.

2. Is there any way to find living relatives of NIles and Guri

I would like a reason to return to Norway.

Again, I really appreciate any help

Tracing living persons is difficult. Possibilities are persons with last name Dale living in Framfjorden from the yellow pages.

A lot of photos, select from Vik i Sogn.

Possible farm in the Framfjord area with 1881.
Check Hybrid, write Dale in the search field, click søk, click Sted/Adresse, go to "page" 10, click on Dale (Gårdsbruk) Vik, Sogn og Fjordane.
Most of the persons with last name Dale are in this region, see also photos of the different Dale small farms.
