Britha Osmundsdatter was 30 years when she was married in 1829, birth should be approx 1799 then. In the 1801 census she is 4 years old (born 1797) and has an older brother Tollef, see #1129. Her parents were married the same day as Tollev was baptized, see #2 on left page. The date is Febr. 8 1795.
The baptismal record for Brithas sister Marte (said to be 2 years in 1801) is #2 on left page, the date is March 19 1797.
Have not found Brithas baptismal record. She was confirmated July 13 1817, see #29 Brithe Aasmundsdatter, Moe, parents Aasmund Tollevsen and Ingebor Aadsdatter, Øreqvam. Unfortunately baptismal record not given as was the case for several others.

Askild Torgersen being 24 years old when he was married to Britha, he should be born approx 1805 then.
Torjer and Magla Nærem baptized Askild Oct 13 1805, see right page.
Torjer Nærem is most likely Torjer Askilsen 29 years in 1801.

Britha Osmundsdatter = Brithe Aasmundsdatter
her father
Osmund Tollefsen = Aasmund Tollevsen
her mother
Ingebor Odsdatter = Ingebor Aadsdatter

just different spellings for all three of them, pronounciation of the names is the same.

Hei Jodie! I have read all interesting info presented at this topic about Eric and Britha, from Hjelmeland. About 4000 people left from Hjelmeland to America, and I try to pick them up "over there".
Have you connect relations to spouses, place of living, children, deaths and burrials for these "big" family?
I have some info which I can share with you !
Do you have death-dates for Eric? Britha are burried at Halvorson cemetery (Little Indian Cemetery?) in IL ?
Which of the children are connected to your family?
Bjarne J.

Hi Bjarne J.
Yes I have Eric's death date as 20 Oct 1927 and yes buried in Little Indian Cemetery
Britta's death date is 13 Apr 1912 also in Little Indian Cemetery
Little Indian Cemetery is located outside of Leland in LaSalle Co., IL
Did the people you are looking for settle down in LaSalle Co., IL?
If so I may be able to find info for you.
The line that the family comes from is Johannes "John" E Vormeland b:18 Jan 1868

I would be happy to help you if I can!!!!

What information would you like?

Jodie

Thank you for responding.
I,m just asking for info about your family!
There is a John E. Wormland married Mrs. Maggie Nelson in LaSalle 15. jan 1889. Is this the correct John (Johannes) ?
Is this the John Vermeland that are listed in LaSalle county i 1920 living with Marie 1871, Farrest 1901, Harold 1909 and Frida K. 1911 ?
Who was Marie/Maggie? Where did the family live/what happen to the children, when did they die/where burried ?
Askild/Oscar Vermeland, 06.06.1863 was m. to Martha and lived in Iowa ? Do you have more info about this family?
Eric and Britha where living about 2 miles south of Leland ?
Do you know in wich township and section? Did any of the children continue farming after Eric/Britha died ?
Johan (Joseph) Vermeland/Wormland (did the family had different spelling of familyname?) b. 28. march 1866, married Mary Larson? Do you have any more info about Mary. Where did they live, name/dates of children.
Johan did visit Hjelmeland in 1903 ?
Bjarne J.

Please let me know if I can help with any information.
I,m sorry a haven,t visit their husmannplass "Oksebaasliaa", but have been told it is far out in the mountain located between the farm Fundingsland and the fjord - Joesenfjord.

Hi Yes I believe this is the same family

I believe Maggie Erickson was married to a Nelson as her first marriage. I have been confused on this info. I would like to share the documents I have if you would contact me through my personal email Maja520s@aol.
Maggie was 20 years older than John. They were married 15 Jan 1889 I don't know when she died or what happened to her, But John married Mary Larson on 14 Jan 1891 and listed it as his 1st marriage.
I found a Probate record for Eric Vermeland that list Proof of Heirship.
I would be happy to send you the documents.
Where do you fit into this family?

Jodie
