Hi all 'gennies'

For those of you who like to do your own research.
I use a Gen program for linux called Gramps, within this program it has a geographic mapping feature. The the location options require a Lat' & Longitude first, after theses have been located it will 'map' the locations as required. For location of Lat & Long' i found that
this site was ideal.

But sooner or later you will need to "find" locations first in Norway or other places then this http://www.yr.no location is a bit 'out of the box' but has some of the most detailed data on any site I have found so far, plus of course 'hows the weather'

It includes some of the the following, Municipalities, Large towns, Lighthouses, Small towns / larger villages, Villages and other populated areas, Churches. Interactive Map and Search link for any location and .... Latitude and Longitude. However realize that this will be 'current' names not historic. For that you will need to search else where.

If you have found other tools then maybe share them here for "Locations"

Cheers from NZ
