I'm hoping someone here can help guide me to my next steps or provide me with information.

My great-grandfather was George Adolf Kreutz born December 6, 1890 in Freiburg Germany. At some point around 1904 he was kicked out of his home and became a sailor. He "jumped ship" in Yarmouth Nova Scotia around 1908/09.

I know the following:
  • The ship he left in 1908/09 was a Norwegian barque called the Maryetta

  • The ship was captained by Olaf Bjornstad, who subsequently also settled in Yarmouth

  • I believe I found the listing of this ship on the Norwegian Maritime Museum site (http://www.norsk-sjofartsmuseum.no/mh/index.php?subkat=register): MARYETTA ex tysk BIRMA; Skipsfører - O. Bjørnstad 1906-14

I did read the following from this site; http://www.norwayheritage.com/articles/templates/genealogy.asp?articleid=4&zoneid=2 but I don't know how to figure out a foreign sailors district.

Can someone point me to an online crew list or possible address to write to? I would like to confirm this is the ship by g-grandfather was on and trace his journey plus see what other information a crew list would give me about him.

Sorry for the long post and thanks for any help!

Jeffrey
