I am researching my ancestor Ole Simensen. I only have his name from his daughter Anne Olsdatter (Rusnes) Who was born 1678 in Rusnes and died 1732 in Tolstad, Vågå, Oppland. This information comes from a 5th cousin. Recently while searching the 1666 I came upon an Ole Simensøn, (# 3200), age 16 years. Correct farm and correct age to have had a daughter born in 1678. He does not seem to be living with his parents although his status is Sønner. What is his relationship to Torkel Erlandsøn? Can someone explain to me the information given on this census record?

Thank you so much.

Hi,
Ole Simensen was Torkel Erlandsen´s fosterson.

Rusnes 1666
Ole was a foster son. His parents probably were dead.

Thanks so much to both of you for your response. I suppose I will never know if this is the correct Ole Simensen but it makes a nice footnote.

Again thank you both for your time.

Hi,
some add info for you, probably taken from Vågå and Sel Bygdebook.

4. section here tells about Ole Simensen Rusnes, a daughter Anne Olsdatter b. 1658, who she married and her 3 children.

This familytree confirm the 1666 census;
Ole Simensen 1650 married Karen Pedersdatter was Torkel Rusnes fosterson.

Further;
Ole Simensen must have d. between 1678-80, Karen Pedersdatter married 1680 Lars Olsen, leaseholder on Rusnes, see #66-67
