Wow!!! I have no clue if that is Oscar. I have no info on his family and names. All I had to go back to Norway with was that letter. But I do remember that Oscar was a stowaway on his first trip here. So he may have come over with the Hawklands on that 1923 trip. I dont know. I do know he was here by 1927 because he went to the Ackerman Nautical School and got his certificate in Dec 1928. Then he joined the American Army in Nov 1929. He was given an Honorable Discharge on Dec 20 1930. It says that he was discharged with a section 3. My grandmother said that was when his sister may have died in the accident. Is there anyway to follow Margrete to see what other children she had? or when she died? It may list her other children then?

I think Oluf Didriksen and Antona Didriksen (christened Anna Magdalena Mathisadatter) was Oscar´s grandparents.
- they were.
The baptismal record for Oskars mother, Margrethe Josefa, is #33, her parents Oluf Didriksen and Anna Magdelene Mathiasdatter, who were married Nov 6 1881, see #9.

You all are amazing! Yes that is my family on Roots web. My brother in law put that there but not all the dates are correct. When he called me for the info I didnt have all the papers I have now to give him dates so I guess he guessed on some of it. Because the one living child is from Oscar Not from Lionel. Edna and Lionel had no children together. I have not even started on the family from Grant and Riggs family from Great Britain! I want to get to Oscars family first..

I can't believe you are finding all this so fast. We have had a lifetime of being told from our Grandmother Edna..They are all dead and all the records are burned! That is what she told us. I always told her, Grandmothr I am alive...so I have family that is alive in Norway.. But i think it was because he was scared they would take Margaret from her and she never got over it. Is there any way to find when she married the A. Hauan? and what children she had with him? I think we will know for sure if this is her family if they list she had Odd and Sigrid? Or if we can find how was Christian Hawkland was related? By the way how would I look up to see what happened to Christian Hawkland here? If his family stayed in NY or what children they had? So many questions!!!

Wow! I wish I could read Norwigean! I Dont understand any of this. Oluf was Anna husband and Margrete's grandfather so this is Margretes Uncle? So many different names. Do many questions. I see that my grandfather Oscar was a Pleieson= foster son? Margrete was a foster daughter as well. This is strange. Was this something common? I also do not see what happened to her other children or a marriage to Oscar's father. It just puts him down as his father. By the way there was a big age difference. Oscar was born in 1907 she was a widow mother. Didnt marry again until 1921! What happened in these years? Where was she and the other children.. or maybe they were born after she was married to Alfred in 1921? Oscar died in 1935 and she said he had a brother Odd and Sigrid birth and death. Where are his birth records? Where do I look? Again Thank you so much! My head is spinning with all the info. I hope it leads me to living family members soon..You all are such a blessing to me...

Can anyone read confirmation record #3?

I wonder if this is Alfred Johansen Hauan, Margrete's husband from 1921? The parents from the conf. record reads Johan Jensen & Jensine Lovise Kristoffersen?

Kristian Nikolai, b. 14 Apr 1894 ¨[=Christian Hawkland?] had these parents: Johan Jenssen b. 1845 & Jensmine ("Mina") Kristoffersdatter b. 1851.

If they are the same, Kristian and Alfred are brothers, and it would make sense if Oscar called him his uncle, although Alfred was his step-father.
