Hi, I am searching for any descendants of the Sorensen family of Horten, Vestfold. I have seen the census entries up to 1875, they were at an address Carljohansvaern. The father's name was Bergerius Sorensen, born circa 1808 in Porsgrund. He went to England in the 1830s and returned there to marry my cousin Harriet Davis at the Old Church, St Pancras in 1846. They had two children Harald born June 27, 1847 and Hilda Louise born November 5, 1856. I can not find any record of the deaths of Bergerius and Harriet Sorensen, though I have searched the parochial registers for Horten between 1875 and 1900. I could be missing something. And the script is very hard to read at time, as I don't understand Norwegian. I know that Harriet, Bergerius and Harald were all dead by 1900 as they don't appear in the census. The only surviving members of the family were Elisa Sorensen, Harald's widow and their only child Ragnhild, born February 28, 1877. They lived in Oslo. Does anyone know how I might find the death records of this family and also find any descendants of Ragnhild, who I assume lived to have a family of her own. Thanks, Daniel

Hi

This must be Elisa and Ragnhild in the 1910 census even though Ragnhild here is said to have been born 1887:

Hi

This is the death of the Ragnhild I found in the 1910 census.
She died Aug 28, 1915 and was burried from Frogner church. She was not married:
No 69: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8076&idx_id=8076&uid=ny&idx_side=-120

Here is her probate, no 1105:
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:sk_read/27308/7
I'm having trouble reading it, but I think there is a last will and it is the undertaker who reported about the death. It does not seem as she has children.
But hopefully someone else are able to read it!

She is burried at Vår frelsers gravlund (cemetery) in the same grave as her mother.

Hi

The Elisa (or Elisabeth) Sørensen I found in the 1910 census died March 12, 1930 still living in Skovveien 5 (Skogveien).
Church burial reccords after 1930 are not online, but I found her probate.
No 300: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:sk_read/27315/182
She has no descendants and there is a last will.

Many thanks Vivi... I was not expecting such a detailed reply. Thank you for searching on my behalf, I am sad Ragnhild died so young. Do you know if the death records for Horten are indexed? I am having trouble reading, having searched so many pages for the deaths of Bergerius, Harriet and Harald! Thanks for your kind reply.

I believe Harald and Elisa (Anna Margrethe Elisabeth Clausen) were married in Oslo Domkirke May 28 1878, see #33 - they were engaged to be married May 23, see 2nd record on right page.
If Ragnhild was born in 1877 she would have been en "uægte" child. (I have not seen any bapt record for Ragnild, do you know where the info comes from?)

Haralds baptismal record is #86. He was born June 27 1847.

Anne Margrethe Lisabeths baptismal record is #129, her parents were Pilot Claus Jørgen Clausen, Haavig and Gjertru Berendine Thorsdatter.

Thank you Eibache. I think I have the wrong date for Ragnhild's birth, I don't remember where that came from but it's what I have. So she must have been born in 1887; that is what the census records say! Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction. I think I must check the records again for Horten for the deaths of Harald, Bergerius and Harriet. Thank you!!!
