The line I am looking for is from Stange, Hedmark, Norway... they immigrated to Hale Township, Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. I have all census info and am trying to find how they traveled to the US... Boat/Ports/US or Canada...

The name would be Peder C Finstad is the name he used in the US... however in Norway he was a Christiansen...

I have this from the digital archive but am not sure if it means he left Norway on the date 5.5.1884 -

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=3569&u...

He is located in 1884 line 4 of the bottom right side of page 281....

I think his brother came to the US in 1882 through Canada from what I have found but nothing relating to him...

I know he was married in 1885 in Hale Township in Wisconsin

Some extra info

Peder C Christiansen (Finstad) it is often mispelled

b. Jan. 19 1855 Stange Parish Norway
d. Jan. 16 1896

Father - Christian T(h)rondsen (this may be spelled wrong)
Mother - Berte Pedersdatter

Spouse - Johanne Torklesen (I have different spellings)

Here's the telling for him in Norway -

Thank You!

Your "telling" did not work, I assume you ment this 1865 census.
Bapt record for Peder is #72, parents Christian Throndsen and Berthe Pedersdatter, Vestre Nøklebyeie.
(I believe he was born Jan 13, not 19.)

The date 5/5 84 is when they recieved attestations needed for emigration. Peder was then a widower and he travelled with Anne Johansdatter (married woman, Trond Christiansens wife) and her child Brithe Christine Trondsdatter.

I believe Peder was married to Hanna Bredesdatter Nov 12 1877, see #14.

Hanna Brededatter, Finstad died March 17 1882, see #5 (husband said to be Erik Kristiansen, should have been Peder).

Peder and Hanna had a daughter, Kristine, Dec 20 1877, see #14.

This would match up but we did not know of the first wife....but we just found out earlier last week my great grandpa Plamer (Peder's Son) had a sister Christina

So I assume he would have left Norway in May still? I'm kinda lost as far as what ports he most likely would have left from. I'm kind of leaning towards him coming to Wisconsin through Canada.

Is this the Farmsted he was born/living at then? Or is it a geographic location in the Stange area?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

We've been trying to help my grandmother get this put together since my Grandmother was recently hospitalized and she is the only one who has any verbal info on my Grandpa family.

Thank you again!

Nate

Vestre Nøklebyeie (Western Nøkleby) is the farm where his parents were living when Peder was born.
Most likely he left Norway in May 1884, from Stange this would have been Kristiania (Oslo) even though I have not found any evidence of that.
