Looking for any information on Thore Olson Sundt born 1801 in Bergen. His parents names and any siblings. He married Ane Helene Christiansdatter born 1798. They married in Hammerfest in 1826. Had a daughter named Indiana Dorthea Thoresdtr (Sundt) born May 1, 1828. (Finnmark, Nordland is marked down but not sure if that is where she is born or not). Any information at all would be great. Indiane Dorthea born May 1 1828 in Hammerfest, Finnmark was baptized at home June 15, see #2.
They were married Aug 26 and the marriage record is #3.
I believe Thore was baptized Thor on Jan 11 1801, he was born Jan 3 and the parents were Ole Olsen Sund and Gurine Hansdatter, see 2nd record in far left column. The family in 1801.
The confirmation record for Indiane Dorthea is #25.
She had a sister Albrectine Antonette born Aug 1 1830, see #33, and a brother Michael Berg born July 2 1833, see #29.
Ole Olsen Sundt and Gurina Hansdatter were married Oct 24 1790, see last record on right page.

Great information and so fast. For Indiane's confirmation record, I can only read--Indiane Dorthea Thoresdtr--1828 Hammerfest, Thore Olsen Sundt-- Christiansdtr. On the next page I cannot make it out at all. Would you be able to fill in the blanks for me? Indiane seems an unusual name for a norwegian. One wonders where they got that from but will never know. Is it possible to go back further to Ole Olsen Sundt and Gurina Hansdatter's parents or is this as far as it goes for information on both sides? Anyways, thank you for all the information you have found. That is a lot that you found for me. Diane |

The confirmation record does not give you any new info - the blanks "1 Mai" = May 1, "Gurine" Christiansdatter - the next page tells you "nesten god Kundskap - god Opfĝrsel" - almost good knowledge - good behavior. Ole Olsen was most likely born in Bergen 1741 - very common name, difficult to be certain that the right one has been found. Gurine Hansdatter most likely born 1763 in Bergen, name not too common, have searched but no hit.

Thore Olsen Sundt from Hammerfest died Sept. 9. 1837 on Spidsbergen (Spitsbergen), the largest of the islands of Svalbard
Perhaps he was a trapper. People from northern Norway have been whaling and trapping on Svalbard for generations. Trappers arrived in the fall and stayed there throughout the winter hunting Polar bears and Arctic foxes.

Thankyou for that interesting tidbit of information Kaarto. That was very interesting and a good possibility, that it was what Thore could have been doing there. Diane |

Hello again. Am trying to find information on Ane Helene Christiansdatter born in 1798. The one who married Thore Olsen Sundt. Looked at some Hammerfest information but don't see her name there. Would like to find out more about her-her full birthdate, family etc. It would be a great help. Thanks, Diane |

Do you know where Ole Olsen Sundt came from?
I have a candidate, he was godfather in Nidaros Cathedral to Edrika Eichsdatter Mai 31. 1781. First page last confirmation in Mai, see middle of the bottomline for baptism #45 .......: Ole Ols: Sundt, .........
