Many thanks Kåre,

This is very interesting. As well as having fun finding out about my ancestors, I’m learning so much about Norway’s history :-)

I noticed Peder Pedersen’s wife is Ane Larsdtr in the 1801 census. Brite Lasrdtr must have been his first wife – and perhaps sister of Ane.

Hi.
Peder Pedersen Møllsæters father had the same name, Peder Persen (Pedersen) Møllsæter age 51, leaseholder on Møllsæter and Per (Peder) Pedersen age 8, born ab. 1793 and a servant boy Siver Arnesen 25 in the 1701 census
Only boys and men were mentioned in the censuses earlier than 1801 (potential/future soldiers and tax payers)
An exemption was a widow (tax payer) until she married again or handed over the farm to one of the children.

Sunnelven 1711.
"Skoskatten" Shoe-tax for Geiranger and Sunnelven 1711.
A one-time tax on various services, labor, clothes and goods. Soldiers of smallholders and their family paid no tax.

Møllsæter is ab. 2/3 down with headline: Gerangers Capell here
Peder Pedersen and his Quinde/wife with 4 children and a young servant boy. "Nyder" Enjoy (hmm) the year with wages and clothes for total 3 rdr (which means);
Total tax for labor and clothes 3 RiksDaler.

Hi.
not sure when the family bought Møllsæter.
Both Peder Pedersen and his wife died within 1719 and Peder Pedersen (jr) as oldest son inherited Møllsæter.

In the probateregister from Sept. 8. 1719 on right page both of the names Møllsæter and Ødegaarden is used on the farm.

They left "5 børn" five children, Peder b. a. 1793 inherit Møllsæter/Ødegaard, Knud age 15, a daughter Anne 35 and a daughter age 25 working on farm Møll, a daughter Eli?.
It´s a comprehensive document, everything was assessed, the sum of the various stands at the bottom.

Not easy to read the document. Lots of info there.
Hopefully it will be translated online one day.

I wonder if Peder Pedersen Møllsæter´s wife was Britte Knudsdatter mentioned in line 3 & 4.
It was tax on inheritance.

A short summary of Geiranger threw the last 13,000 years.
