quote: but that is not Svends father, he died correct.
Not his father either, could be only neighbors on the same farm, could be releated. I do not know at this time. All I know is that they use the same farm name, are on the same ship and going to the same destination in America.
The point I was trying to make was that the Svend J Lindtvedt that Jackie found was very likely the same person as Svend Iverson since the three passengers on the ship the Island bearing the name Lindtvedt ended up in 1900 about 10 miles apart. I had also hoped that finding the ships manifest on Ancestry.com would provide some new information.. Sorry to be so opaque.

Confirmed, it is the same - Same wifes name and same children first names. Same date of birth. Svend J Lindtvedt is Svend Iverson! 1895 Census record in Minnesota confirms this. |

Yeah, I agree. It probably not the mother. Bryhild was born 1831, this is saying 1855-1856. Any chance or any relation? |

Kïż½re- that would make sense on the American census records. I still think it is the same guy.
Jackie- I will check out that name in Utah. See if anything happens. Thanks for the help again guys. I am finding out some pretty amazing stuff here.
Also, I checked out that link from http://www.genealogy.com/genealogy/users/h/a/n/Roar-Hansen/index.html The address shown is located very close where the Stendalan immigrated from I believe. |

Hi,
When you get back to looking into Norwegian records, it might be of interest to you to know that Svend Iverson the immigrant and his twin were home baptized by their grandfather, Svein Iverson Torsteinplassen, which might be why Svend's birthplace is given as Aals Pr in the 1865 census. Torsteinsplassen is found in Sandvaldet in Hol annex in Aal, Hallingdal Buskerud fylke. This note is found in the far right column of Svend's baptismal record in the Nore records. The baptism does not appear in Hol/ Aal records though.
Another interesting curiosity is that, Svend's half uncle (from the grandfather's marriage) was named Ivar Sveinson and his wife was named Kristi Eiricksdatter from the Viergjordan farm in Uvdal. That is, I think, the same farm that Svend the immigrant's illegitimate son Halvor's mother was living when he was baptized. Perhaps there was some family connection going on at that place.
Here is Svend's confirmation record. His father is marked with a cross which means he is deceased, this we know but his mother's name doesn't have a similar mark (unless it's hidden in the crease of the binding), so she had to have died after May 1877:
Source information: Buskerud county, Nore, Parish register (official) nr. I 4 (1867-1877), Confirmation records 1877, page 56. Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=5897&idx_id=5897&uid=ny&idx_side=-146 Permanent imagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20061102320339.jpg
Here is the half uncle's family in 1865, Svend the immigrant's grandfather has passed on as well, since his 2nd wife is listed as a widow. Ivar's children were each born in Nore. http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebCens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=6&filnamn=f60619&gardpostnr=973&personpostnr=5909&merk=5909#ovre
Svein Ivarson Torsteinplassen's death record, #27, also in 1864:
Source information: Buskerud county, Ċl, Parish register (official) nr. I 6 (1849-1864), Death and burial records 1864, page 182. Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=1149&idx_id=1149&uid=ny&idx_side=-210 Permanent imagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20051109020210.jpg
Good luck to you,

Thats right, Svend (the immigrant) grandfather was born out of wedlock. Was his full name Svend Iversen correct from Aal, correct? I do not have a date of birth or death. Is vein Iverson Torsteinplassen the same person as Svend iverson Aal???? I thought Svend iverson (Immigrant) was born in Nore, Buskerud, Norway. Is Aals pr the farm he was born on? Too many Svends to keep track of. Doing the best i can on the family tree. |

Hi, for a better understanding.
Here is Aal, todays Ċl and Nore and Uvdal, two municipalities in Buskerud County
Some records has Opdal, an old spelling for Uvdal.

Hi,
Svend Ivarson Torsteinsplassen, Svend Iverson, the immigrant's grandfather (father's father) was born about 1796 /1797 and died (it looks like) 20 June 1864, services were in the old Hol church.
There could be more but it sounds like you are overwhelmed. You might want to consider downloading a family history software program and start entering your data in it, to help you keep it straight. Most software companies have an "evaluation" version available for free (except Family Tree Maker)
The only place Svend the immigrant is given the birthplace of Aals pr. is in the 1865 census. It looks to me that it's possible they were visiting or living the grandfather and when the babies were born they were baptized by him. The record in Nore is probably the "church" baptism confirming the earlier home baptism. Any person of faith is allowed to baptize a baby, particularly if a minister cannot be secured in time.
