This is the "comment" entry in my gGrandfather's exit record from Bergen (Johan Olssen Gjerde, age 26, b. 1848 in Nordalen, departing Bergen about 18-Mar-1874 on the Allan Line).

I would appreciate some translation assistance. I hypothesize that it refers to shortage of available work.

If you refer to this emigration record it does not have a "comment" entry. In the occupation entry it only says he was a worker and had permission to travel.
I have not found him in the parish records departing Norddal 1874, his baptismal record is #2.
