I'm looking for help to maybe locate a birth place and year for "Ellef Gabrielsen Mossing or Mossingen" I beleive he was at that farm in 1879, wife was Karen Anna Pedersdatter or Karen Marta Andreasdatter and a son named Petter Ellefsen Mossing

Thank You

What known birth years or approximations are known for the father, mother and son? Did they emigrate from Norway? When? Where to?

The son, my Grandfather Peter Ellefsen Mossing was born Sept 22,1858 in Aasen, Frosta, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, in 1865 he was living in a foster home after that he was in the military and also worked at the Bromstad farm. On April 17,1890 he emigrated to the US where he changed his name to Peter E Bromstad. In 1905 he moved to Saskatchewan,Canada where he farmed until he died in 1936. Peters wife was Birgit Betsy Trondsen Brandvøl born in Hemsedal, Buskerud, Norway.

I undrstand Ellef Gabrielsen Mossing Mossingen had another son " Hans Peter Ellevsen Mossing" who emigrated to the US around 1890 and may have changed his name to Berg but I have nothing more on him yet.

Thanks

Neil Bromstad

Peter Ellevsen, born Sept 22 1858, was a child born out of wedlock.
His father Ellev Gabrielsen was at the Mossim (Mossing) farm in 1865.
http://digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=20&filnamn=f61717&gardpostnr=575&personpostnr=3649&merk=3649#ovre. He was still at the farm in 1900, then as a married man with 5 children.

According to this Ellev Gabrielsen was born 1840, the confirmation record #11 says he was born Jan 9 1840 and his parents were Gabriel Olsen and Elen Kristine Ellevsdatter, Mossing.

- I believe that would be the child listed as born 1889 in the 1900 census,
http://digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=26&filnamn=f01716&gardpostnr=107&personpostnr=789&merk=789#ovre.
If so, emigration 1890 would not be correct.

Hi,

Ellef Gabrielson Mossing is in this database at rootsweb (and fairly recently updated):

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:1567606&id=I70454784

You didn't ask for help with Birgit Tronds. Brandvold from Hemsedal but you might like to know, if you don't already, there is a copy of the Hemsedals Slekthistoire online at www.eikre.net (click on Slekthistorie picture). You will also want to do forum search here at norwayheritage.com for Branvoll, pages roughly 20-25 of Margaret Mikkelsdatter Solberg topic...

Checking on the info in the database at rootsweb, I found some needs to correct/clarify. Ellev Gabrielsens father Gabriel Olsens baptismal record is the 1st one on right page
Kildeinformasjon: Nord-Trøndelag fylke, Frosta, Ministerialbok nr. 713A02 (1778-1811), Kronologisk liste 1810, side 542-543.
Permanent sidelenke: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=16379&idx_id=16379&uid=ny&idx_side=-221.
He was born April 5 and baptized April 13 1810 and his mother was Malena Fredericksdatter.

Also it says Gabriel Olsen and Elen Kirstine Nonstad were married Sept 5 1835, the correct date is Sept 5 1836 and Elen Kirstines last name is Ellevsdatter.
