Hi all!

My ggrandfather's brother Alfred Johansen Tingsrud (b. Sørum, Akershus Jan 12, 1889) went to America in March 1907:

http://www.digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=12&filnamn=emikra1&gardpostnr=173434&merk=173434#ovre

(No 173434)

He was heading for Minnesota and went with the ship "Hellig Olav"with some mates, among them Axel Falla (Klemts. Juliussen) b 1885.

Is it possible to find about more about him in America? (Family, death)

According to our "Bygdebok" he married in America.
Alfred is found on Ellisisland, there seems to be a comment: "Reason for immigration - friend Mr J Solberg"

I also wonder who this J Solberg might be?

This family came from a Solberg-farm in Sørum, Akershus, Norway and at least one of Alfred's uncles used the surname Solberg...

Hi,

If this works, its a link to the actual page the 4 appear on at the Ellis Island database:

http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipManifest.asp?MID=05488120970901904960&FNM=ALFRED&LNM=JOHANSEN&PLNM=JOHANSEN&bSYR=1889&bEYR=1889&first_kind=1&last_kind=0&RF=5&pID=101928020347&

#16, 17, 18, 20
It looks as though they are all headed to the same address in Minneapolis:

86 Westkeen (?)

#16 is a relative of H. Christianson, the other 2 are friends of Hagbart Christianson.

Lovely jackie!

The one dying in July 1923 is interesting, my Alfred's parents were Johan Olsen and Kaisa Eriksen/Eriksdotter (She was Swedish)

Excited now...!

This death notice from Minnesota may have some interest with the Solberg reference. The birth date is good but the year is off by one.
