Looking for any info on this family. Said to have emigrated in 1857-1858 from Sojn Province, Norway. Changed name to Thompson in North Dakota, USA. Died May 2, 1897 in Mekinock, ND

Where did you get his date of birth: Jan 1 1817? and Place Sande in Hafslo?

A Sande farm is in Luster, Sogn og Fjordane and a Tosten was baptized Jan 19 1817, see 2nd record on right page

He was born out of wedlock, his mother was Anna Olsdatter, ytre Krogen and the father was Hermund Svendsen, Svendsøe.
