Could this be Herman Amundsen's daughter Borghild? I thought she was born earlier than 1890, and I thought I had found her in the 1910 census. But she is in the correct parish at the correct address.

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=29&filnamn=doed1881&gardpostnr=6661&merk=6661#ovre

When I click on the search icon, it sends me right back to the page I originally started on. I'm going around in circles.

I thought that Harald (Hasto) had given you a link to a Borghild Amundsen born in 1893 in the 1910 Census in your earlier post. Same as this reference from NHDC.

Also 1900

So, there must have been two Borghilds in the Amundsen family. I hope

I see you will have a reunion for the Vesle Dengerud family this summer.

Perhaps you already have the info you need about this farm?
If you don´t, info in Norwegian exist about the Vesle Dengerud family from ca 1750-1900 that can be posted here.

Kaarto, no I don't have all the information I was looking for about this family, but thanks to Norway Heritage I do have quite a bit more than I had before. We Vesle Dengeruds are having another reunion this year. We have had a Dengerud family reunion every other year in August since 1968. I would love to learn more about these Amundsens from Bergen. I did locate an Alf Amundsen who died in 1964 in Bergen and a Hans I. Amundsen who died in 1980 in Bergen, who are both descended from my Dengerud family. But so far, no one living. I keep hoping :)

The thread is still active, although I notice that some of the links are not. Here is an update of the links to Borghild Amundsdatter born about 1893.

There was also a census in 1912 for Bergen. She is found in that census living with some of her siblings.

Also here is a link to the earlier thread on this same family from 2010.

Hi. Thanks so much for your response and all the links!
Here is some info from my memory.

Herman and Barbra Amundsen died of TB... I think around 1910 but I do not know the year.

Borghild with Kristine, possibly her aunt, raised her 4 brothers: Sverre, Herman, Alf and Hans. (In some research I think there might have been 2 other daughters that died before Borghild was born? Ragnhild and Hildur? But I never heard of them growing up - only that she had 4 brothers and Kristine and that she was the oldest.)

In 1919 she emigrated to America (thanks for the ship photo, etc.) pretty sure on the same ship as Bernhard Jon Olsen, who was in the ship's company, and the son of John Olsen (Rongved) who might have owned the house she had lived in in 1910. John Olsen at one point owned 3 houses in Bergen. Link to Census.

Borghild was sponsored in the US by Hans Zachariasen (Sackariassen), Barbra's brother living in the US in New Jersey and who became or was an executive at Bethlehem Steel Corp.

Borghild married Bernhard Olsen in New York and they had 3 daughters Elsie, May (who died of diphtheria as a child) and Alice. I am Elsie's daughter June.

Borghild's brother Herman was an actor and died around age 35 in a fishing accident.

Borghild's brother Sverre also came to the US and lived in NJ.

I met Hans and his son Paul in the 1970's when I was in Norway. I also met Alf who I think was Hans' other son.

Thanks for all.... June
