looking for info. on halvor johannesen.
last info. I found was that he was born in 1863 on the bagaasen
farm in hedmark. his mother was unknown halvorsdatter.
as far as I can find he came to the US in 1884 and changed his
name to bagaason and then to bagaas.

after the 1865 hedmark cencus the whole family do not show up
in norway.

Hi

Might this be the emigration June 26,1884 of Halvor and Pauline travelling together?
Halvor J.(ohannesen) and Pauline P:(edersen)

If Johannes was from Ċsnes b. 1863 it will not be possible to find his birth record since the church books from this period were lost in a fire early in the 1900.

Halvor Torstenson, Halvor's grandfather was a farm owner (gaardbruger?) perhaps he died while owning the place? Is there anything in the probate records, land records, mortgage records concerning him and the farm now coming online at the Digitalarkivet?

Perhaps the 1865 census is diff. to understand:
Halvor b. 1863, I doubt that his mother was Helene Halvorsdatter b. 1848 the census.
Halvor was "Dattersĝn" Daughter son, grandson to the owners of Bagaasen Halvor and Oleane and Helene and Olivia b. 1851 is the only daughters on the farm, Eberhard, Thodor and Otto are their brothers.

If Helene Halvorsdatter (she was only 15) was his mother Halvor was born out of wedloc.
I belive his mother ?? Halvorsdatter was dead

Halvors father was Johannes (unknown lastname)

Kokkin (Kokkon) was a farm at Gjesaasen in Ċsnes, the same for Krogen (Pauline Krogen), both farms are from the same area as Bagaasen.

Hmm, there seems to be two families with husband and wife of similar name, birth years and immigration dates living in Minnesota. One is listed as living in Sacred Heart, Minnesota and one from Sparta, Minnesota. The two places are only 25 miles apart and many of the children in the two Census entries seem to be the same.
