As you can see I'm brand new to this forum. I was able to obtain several (11) documents from FHL in Utah, USA concerning my Norwegian relatives and would like to get some help with translation. They are church records of death, marriage and baptism. Since there isn't anyway to use an attachment anyone have any other suggestions? Thank you

Can you tell which documents you have obtained?
Names, dates etc would be helpful.

You might be able to do that yourself. Good information about translating the formats of Norwegian parish church records during various time periods, many of the basic terms used and understanding how to use the information should be studied at this web site -
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~norway/na20.html

and a handy list of translated words -

The Norwegian church records microfilmed by LDS are also available online for viewing.

Tell us WHO, WHEN, WHERE and WHAT type of event for each document.

WOW ! Thank you very much. Thought I'd have time to sit back and wait on response but can see you are very prompt. So I'll give you the next bunch while I try and organize the information you have provided.
I have a record of death for who I believe to be Peder’s first wife Anne Sivetsdatter Ulriksen. She died on 13 July 1872 with burial on 18 July 1872 in Alstahaug, Nordland. She was age 39 and born in 1933. This is listed as the 16th record on the page for 1872.
Three children of Peder and Kaja:
Adolf Marinius Pedersen: Brn: 26 Jul 1875, Baptism: 19 Sep 1875
Place of baptism: Alstahaug, Nordland listed as 19th record on 1875 page
Henriethe Pedersdatter: Brn 20 Mar 1878, Baptism: 19 May 1878
Place of Baptism: Alsthaug, Nordland listed as 4th record on 1878 page
Halfdan Pedersen: Brn: 18 May 1879, Baptism: 18 May 1879
Place of Baptism: Alsthaug, Nordland listed as #14 the first record on
1879 page.

Einar Once again thank you! I can now add several new names and documents to my tree. Two questions concerning the baptism records for Adolf, Halfdan & Henriethe and death of Anna Ulriksen. Does the information concerning the sponsors for the children provide any additional family information or are they most likely neighbors. The death of first spouse Anne living apart from husband and with her parents is a little confusing. I don't assume they had divorce at the time. Any thoughts?

The church records are online and free for anyone with Internet access.

The Digitalarkivet web site has been adding scanned images of the original Norwegian parish church records for anyone with Internet access since November 2005.

The Digitalarkivet web site - http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebFront.exe?slag=vis&tekst=meldingar
An English option is available by clicking on that word from either the left hand column or the blue link bar along the bottom of the homepage.
The scanned images are available from the homepage link "Skanna kyrkjebøker" [Norwegian version]/"Digitised parish records" [English version] which is listed along the left hand column and from the blue banner of links along the top section of the homepage.
Clicking on "Skanna kyrkjebøker" [Norwegian version]/"Digitised parish records" [English version] will bring up another screen and listing to choose from. Choose "Lesa skanna kyrkjebøker" [Norwegian version]/"Read the digitised parish records" [English version].
After you've clicked on that link and a new main page has presented on the screen be sure and read the instructions that are available from the Digitalarkivet for navigating the scanned records. The instructions are available in Bokmål (official Norwegian), Nyorsk (Norwegian), Davvisámegiella (Saami), and English.
Recommended basic reading are the "Startsiden" [Norwegian version]/"Main page" [English version], "Brukerveiledning" [Norwegian version]/"User's guide" [English version] and "Om tjenesten" [Norwegian version]/"About this service" [English version].

Good information about translating the formats of Norwegian parish church records during various time periods, many of the basic terms used and understanding how to use the information should be studied at this web site -
