Timewise it could be he. The census was taken on 21 June 1870 and they landed on 9 June.

His occupation is Boarding house keeper. It looks like the street is filled with boarding houses, if you continue to the next page. Lena is working in the household next door, not in the same boarding house as Christian.

Both their ages are within the +/- 5 year rule of thumb.

Following your lead on

Here is a marriage for a Lena Olsen, not in La Crosse County but in St Croix which is not far north of La Crosse County. Interesting part is her father is Chris Olson and mother is only listed as Olson.

Google books has Norge in Amerika med kartby Martin Ulvestad published (they say 1901) every word searchable. For those not familiar this book is essentially a business directory by town of Norwegian business people, government officials, prominent citizens arranged alphabetically by town name, mostly in Norwegian. Photographers (fotograf) and other occupations could be searched.

I have the Ulvestad book, the new edition that is ( 2010 ), this book is both in English and Norwegian. I have not found any family members there, most of them arrived later.
For La Crosse he starts around 1850, and the emigrants he mentioned was not from the areas in Norway that would be interesting when Christian and Olava concern.

I have tried to find this Lena Olson and Martin Moen in the 1900 census without any luck, could give me the emigration year for Lena.

I have also found a Christian Olson that emigrated in 1870, and have a birthday in july, but nearly 10 years of in age

Interesting that this (probably the same as you found) Christian Olson's birthday is 4 July 1845:

Yes, it is interesting, and how possible is it to have two Christian Olsons born on the 4 of July and that emigrated in 1870, so I suspect that this could be him.
My problem is that I can not explain that he is born 1845, the same goes for his parents that do not have the correct names.
In the handwritten census it seems to have been some uncertainty about his age there is no doubt it says 1845 and that he is 55 years, although it seem something else have been written first.

Well, it's sometimes easier to find a family than to find a person. I noticed that Christian Olson had 3 daughters in the 1900 census. I think these are them in 1910, all living in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M2G7-GZ9

Apparently they were already in Minneapolis in 1909 when they appear in the city directory of that year:

Olson, Clara A. bookkeeper boards 1410 Bryant Ave N
Olson, Olga E, stenographer for Tre Housekeeper Co boards 1410 Bryant Ave N
Olson, Alma F, resides 1410 Bryant Ave N

Here is an Alma F Clark (who married Irl D. Clark 3 May 1913 in Hennepin County) in the 1920 census:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MWYL-J39

Here is Alma Clark's listing in the Minnesota Death Index online at www.mnhs.org:

CLARK, ALMA F.
Date of Birth: 27 Sep 1889
Place of Birth: OUT OF STATE
Mother Maiden Name: JERGENSON
certid# 1981-MN-014306
Date of Death: 09 Jun 1981
County of Death: HENNEPIN

Alma's son:
CLARK, PAUL EDWARD
Date of Birth: 03 Jun 1918
Place of Birth: MINNESOTA
Mother Maiden Name: OLSON
certid# 1994-MN-027384
Date of Death: 07 Oct 1994
County of Death: HENNEPIN

This from Wisconsin Historical Society website:

Olson, Christian
m.
Jorgensen, Anne Marriage May -- 1881 La Crosse

Mid-1840s birthdate seems consistent:

From History of La Crosse County, Wisconsin, 1881, p. 751.

City of La Crosse
ENERSON & OLSON, saloon-keepers on Third street; have been in business in present location since March 13, 1880. Henry Enerson was born in Norway in 1843; son of Ener Hendrickson, who died in Norway; came to America in 1867; was in Indiana a few months, and has resided in La Crosse since. He kept hotel on corner of Third and Jay streets from 1873 to 1875; then went into the Nora House, corner King and Third, till July, 1879, and has since been in the saloon business. His partner, Christ Olson, was born in Norway in 1844, son of Ole Hansen; came to America in 1870, lived in Clark Co., Wis., three years, then went to California and engaged in lumbering there till 1878, when he returned to Wisconsin and tended bar for his present partner till they went into business together; both unmarried.

I have not been able to find the the information that make me sure that we have found the right guy so I therefore take a break from this two for a while. Hopefully some new information will make it easier to find them
the in the future.

Norge i Amerika med kart is a different book from Nordmændene i Amerika . Med Kart is essentially a list of names & occupations per town in one volume and Nordmændene is a series of short biographicals alphabetically arranged (index volume) and longer articles chronicling the "first" settlers per each county in US (volume 1). Two different sets of information.

I found med kart in Googlebooks but sometimes it's a more pleasant read using the engine at www.hathitrust.org

You're correct in ruling our Olava Wivelstad. She was born in Biri Norway and was my great grandmother. Good luck finding your family.

Just out of curiosity, which sister came in 1889? Did she stay forever or just for a visit? If she did stay stateside for a length of time, if she returned to Norway and was still alive in the 1910 census she may have answered the questions where she was during her time in US....

In the 1865 census they were on a farm called Tangenmoen were there any other farm names which they might have adopted / adapted for their surname in US?

The Wisconsin State Historical Society website has the pre-1907 vital records database. It has 4 Olava Olson marriages:

Olava Olson m. Albert M. Hanson
27 July 1884 Buffalo County

Olava Olson m. Andreas N. Vik
5 June 1887 Trempealeau County

Olava Olson m. Hermand M. Wivelstad
25 Sept 1886 Trempealeau County

Olava Olson m. Carlot Anderson
26 Dec 1889 Jackson County

The only one of these which can definitely be eliminated is Olava Wivelstad. She's in www.findagrave.com as having been born 1868, dying 1935.

Cass County North Dakota marriages from 1870s-1944 are searchable here:

http://library.ndsu.edu/db/marriage/

But I did not find an Olava Olson. However a number of early marriages didn't make it into the county records and perhaps there is one for her.

Nearby counties would be Clay County, Minnesota searchable at www.mncounty.com and
Traill County pre 1900 marriages at www.usgenweb.com, choose North Dakota, choose Traill county.
