quote: Julia's other siblings are: Anton (b. abt.1855 in Eidsvoll), Karl (b. 30 Aug 1860 in Eidsvoll), and Olaf Bunaes (b. 8 Apr 1864 in Bunaes)
- Olaf Bunaes was born at Bunæsmoen in Eidsvoll, ref #22 here.
Other siblings recorded in 1875.
Anne Kristine Christiansdatter was born Sept 25 1869, see #46. This is most likely the aunt you are looking for.

I am amazed at how you are able to read the chicken scratch in these documents. I definitely need to start brushing up on more Norwegian...Thank you.

I found a reference to another possible child of Karl Kristiansen Bunæs b. 30 Aug 1860 in Eidsvoll, Akershus (aka Carl Christian, possibly) and Gurine Berg b. 1 Jun 1877 in Drammen, Buskerud.
He is Rolf Christian Bunæs, born 26 Feb 1902 in Drammen, Buskerud and christened 27 Apr 1902 in the same place. It indicates the family was living in Bragernes.

Not sure if this is legitimate because I don't seem to be able to find any other references to Rolf (died, perhaps?).
The other known siblings are Solveig (b 1903), Gudrun (b 1905), and Erling (b 1909).

Rolf Christian most likely died, he is not recorded with the family in the 1910 census.

Off record. The only Bunæs in Drammen 1910 was this family. I wonder if Carl-Fredrik Bunæs born 1939 in Drammen, 18 times Norwegian champion in athletics at 100 - 200 and 400 meter is from the same family.

I found out (and have a picture to prove it) that Hjordis had 3 half sisters named Olga, Therese and Mathilda. The photo was taken in Drammen.
Looking at the following reference, I can make out a few names, but not completely. There is a Simon ___, Hjelmar Olav __, ___ Therese Petters__ and Jacob Vilhelmsen.
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?show=85&uid=425176&urnread_imagesize=full&hode=nei&ls=1&lc=x%259CK%25B42%25B2%25AA.%25B62%25B4R%25CAT%25B2.%25B62%25B1R2%25B1%25B00%25021%2581B%25C5J%25D6%2599V%2516%25A6%25D6%25B5%2500%25C0%253A%2509%25C5
Hjordis' mother, Julie Kristiansdatter Bunaes was married first to an Unknown Pettersen who died before she left Norway.
Here is the 1900 census for Drammen that also lists an Olga Pettersen:
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=20&filnamn=f00602&gardpostnr=757&personpostnr=3658&merk=3658#ovre
She then had Hjordis with Jens Hansen Smedstad, b. 02 Feb 1853 in Nordre Braadal, Gjerdrum, Akershus, Norway (father Hans Jensen b.1811 and mother Christine Nielsdatter b.1819).
Upon moving to Osakis, MN, Julie married John Rodvold (not sure if it is John Sivertsen Rodvold, b.1862 Stjordal, Meraker, Norway and d. 05 Jul 1933 in Gordon, Todd, MN.

You mean this link here, #17: Kildeinformasjon: Oslo fylke, Jacob, Ministerialbok nr. 5 (1896-1903), Fødte og døpte 1899, side 80. Permanent sidelenke: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=4882&idx_id=4882&uid=ny&idx_side=-85
Yes for your grandmother's faddernes (witnesses or godparents) there are Simon Mortenson (or Martinson), carpenter, and his wife Jorgine; Hjalmar Olsen, unmarried girl Theresse Pettersen, Jakob Vilhelmson Byhuset (?)
The half-sister Olga is listed as being born about 1876 so unlikely to be Julie's child but more likely to be the child of Julie's Petterson husband, unless Olga's birthyear is different.

The names you refer to are the witnesses at the baptism of Hjørdis Sylfride Juliane, they were: Simon Mortensen, carpenter, and his wife Jørgine, Hjalmar Olsen, maiden Therese Pettersen and Jakob Vilhelmsen, bookbinder.
Simon Mortensen and his wife Jørgine in 1900.
Jacob Vilhelmsen in 1900.

Here is a bit of history on the records of Eidsvoll, Norway at www.familysearch.org:
"Contains parish registers from the parishes Eidsvoll (Eidsvold) and Langset. Included the parishes Hurdal and Feiring until 1777. The earlier Eidsvoll church books were burned in 1877. Includes accounts of money collected for burials from 1695 to 1697." |
