When I look at the record for Jackie's Oskur Melvin Anderson on Ancestry.com it refers me to this record. I do not know if this is the same person but the mother and father of Melvin seem to be missing.

Unfortunate if true as mother's birth place is Wisconsin. The curiosity is the kid is born in 1900 why can the family not be found in the 1900 census?

I guess I would not dismiss this family on the basis of mothers bithplace. The reference could be to his step mother Anna who is listed as also being born in Wisconsin.

FYI, Henry is also listed as a Step Son.

It's not unusual for an immigrant to try various versions of their name before settling on another. One other problem is Agnette's age 21, makes her far out from +/- 5 rule.

Perhaps I was too stringent in the 30 candidates?

Here was one I thought very interesting.
Agnette Jaastad but when there was a record of her travel year it was different than 1885 and the marriage record had different parents & where does the Jaastad name fit in? The only farm named Jaastad is in Hordaland.

Agnette Jaastad m. Carl Oscar Skuldt:

Death of Aasbjor Jaastad, spouse of Agnette S. Jaastad, relationship to Agnette Skuldt?

Agnette Skuldt also has a findagrave memorial:

Another that I also followed as very interesting was Agnete Nicholson in South Dakota. But her maiden name is recorded in several places--children's birth records and the 1915 SD census as Hendrickson. But her years were so close and her father was born in Sweden:

Agnete Nicholson b Mar 1864, udv US 1885
1900 South Dakota, Lake County

Yes, I have seen Nicholson before and followed her, but unfortunately she is not the right one...she was even from the same area in Norway...wow, this is difficult!

Here is another Agnet last name Anderson, wife of Ole living in Richland County, Wisconsin. Birthdate is given as Aug 1864, travel date in 1930 census was 1871, maiden name given as Bokhen on the birth record of daughter Ella.

Daughter of Agnes Bokhen and Ole Anderson:

Here is their marriage in 1898. Her maiden name is Carn Agnette Larson, father's name Ole Larsen, mother Olava. His last name is Lovlien.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XRKY-T9Q

Here is their son's birth Oscar Melvin Lovelien on 20 Jan 1900:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XRLF-VJ6

Both this birth and the birth of Oscar Melvin Anderson are sourced from the same microfilm at LDS 1305596. I expect what happened was there were either 2 entries in the record or that the Oscar Anderson one is an earlier edit of the database or a purposeful "indexing" of 2 names in one original record that was maybe unclear what Oscar's surname was. Ditto on Agnette's name.
