Two Dale brothers were Mathias (Matt) and Engle.
Matt Johannsen Dale was born June 1876, came to America in 1898 and married Bertha Anderson and lived in Minneapolis, MN and died after 1940.
Engle Dale was born May 1880/81, came to America in 1903 and married Marie J. Valaker and lived in Minneapolis, MN and died 1934
Need to know their parents' names. So far. Gloppen, Sogn og Fjordane. I did not find anything in www.arkivverkt.no.

Mary J. Valaker (Nov. 1878) I caught her birth place, Indiviken. Where?.

Need help. Thanks, Ted for Sam Dale who lives in Kansas.

There is a Family Tree on Ancestry.com that lists the father and mother as Halvor Jonsson Dale and Agathe Olsdtr Bruvik. That would likely be this family from the 1900 Norwegian Census. I do not see a Engle Dale in this family in this census.

Here is a candidate for Mathias. See #16

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=6851&idx_id=6851&uid=ny&idx_side=-23

I would view the Family Tree I reference earlier as somewhat suspect.

Perhaps this is Mathias arriving in the United States. One reason for thinking so is that Anton and Alfred Fotland are next to him as they are also in the Emigrant from Bergen posted above. His destination is Wasburn Wisconsin.

Name: Martinus Johansen
Arrival Date: 18 Apr 1898
Port of Arrival: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Ship Name: Numidian
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Residence Place: Bjornar
Age: 20
Birth Date: abt 1878
Gender: Male
Race/Nationality: Norwegian
Record Type: Manifests
Line Number: 24

Reiel Johannesen Dale from Gloppen (born 18 Oct 1880) was a teacher in Bremanger in 1910/1911.

I think we can eliminate Reiel Dale as a candidate for Engle Dale, since I have found Reiel in the 1910 Norwegian Census. Since Engle was quite likely living in the US by then it is unlikely the same person. Perhaps we can also eliminate the Mathias who is his brother.

Here is another possibility, Birth date is May 2, 1880. Ingelbright Andreas Monsen. From the Gloppen Konfirmation Records. See #16. Parents are Mons Pedersson and Berthe Ingelbrightsdatter.

Ingebrigt Andreas Monsen Dale (23), leaving Bergen on 20 Apr 1903. He arrived New York on The Ivernia on May 06, 1903.
His destination was friend Mr. Sandberg in Brieslyn, Minn.

The marriage record in 1907 calls him ENGELL M DALE.
