I see you have the same candidate born 1866 Harald.
I believe he is a good candidate for Anders Skari b. ca 1867.

I recieved records back on Andrew Skari. No parents names were mentioned, His last name was spelled Skare. His Dob was 03 Nov. 1866 in Hadeland, Norway. That was also his address before coming to the US. He immigrated to the US from Christiania, Norway on ship Tingvalla on the 18 of July 1886 into New York. Unfortuntly I did not get any more info than that but at least now I have a dob. I tried finding his Parish record with no luck. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

How certain are you of Nov 3 for a birth date. Here is an Anders born Nov 27 in Gran, father is Anders Anderssen Skarieiet. See number 312.

I am going off his Naturalization papers that I ordered from Minnesota. Now I am not familiar with Norway. Would that be located in Hadeland?

Usually the date requested on naturalization records is the date of arrival in US and where. 18 July 1886 means departure about two weeks before from (usually) the ports in Great Britain and then any where from 2-6 days before that as departure from the Norwegian port in this case Oslo (Kristiania) so probably the last 2 weeks in June 1886 or 1st week of July 1886. There were over 350 of those whose first name begins And_____ who left through Kristiania in 1886.

The four parishes making up Hadeland are Gran, Jevnaker, Lunner, Brandbu. I see only one And____ of approximately the correct age leaving from one of the parishes, Gran is this one:

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=120&filnamn=emikra1&gardpostnr=82828&merk=82828#ovre

Here is the family of Anders Adamson in 1865:
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=143&filnamn=f60534&gardpostnr=100&personpostnr=621&merk=621#ovre

I think this Anders could be eliminated as he lived in Pope county, Minnesota and died there about 1913.

The digitalarkivet also has indexed the Gran & Jevnaker out migrating records. There are only two whose first name starts with And leaving from a farm that contains "skar":

Given name Father's name Farm Age Position Year Date No. Destination Local parish
2084 Anders Amunds Skarieiet 1844 8/5 Hmds 1866 25. apr. 163 Amerika Gran
4588 Anders Torstens Skarieiet 1860 Ungk 1882 27. april 33 Amerika Gran

Ages on each of these are outside the +/- 5 years rule of thumb.

This is the confirmation record for Anders Andersen, still shows his birth date to be Nov 27, 1866. See # 10. This is the same person turned up as a good candidate by both Kåre and Harald above.

Because of the relationship between Norway and Sweden, a person might be recorded as Swedish even if they were Norwegian.

Here are all the men whose names contained "and" leaving in 1886 who listed their residence as "Gran" leaving through Kristiania on the 2nd Kristiania list:

Okay the Anders Anderson leaving in 1887, headed for Pelican Rapids (right in the Polk county neighborhood) on Thingvalla in July 1887:

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=11&filnamn=emikra1&gardpostnr=97501&merk=97501#ovre

This is a very interesting page with two affidavits attesting to the fact that an Anders Anderson was born in 1866 (date is very dark ) and was baptized in 1867, entry added between #27 & #28 on the next page. More fluent Norwegian language folks might read and interpret:

Source information: Oppland county, Gran, Parish register (official) nr. 12 (1856-1874), loose attachments 1883, page 352-353.

In 1900 in Gran there is an Anders Olson Kjos b 1829 head of household, owner of Skari øvre. He has a 20 years younger wife and several children born after 1870. Could he have had another family as well prior to this one:

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebCens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=2&filnamn=f00535&gardpostnr=123&merk=123#ovre

Likely the Anders Olson Kjos of the 1900 census in 1865, widower on Kjos:
