Hard to read and understand, but perhaps Nils Nilsen never owned Trøo but rented the farm and that "Livøre" was the annual rent and that Ole Andersen lived on farm Luten but his parents on Trøo.

Lio must = Lien, so this is the 2nd Trøo in Hol, Nils Torgeirson was on the other Trøo which was part of nedre søre Kaupang. I wonder if Trøo under Myhre in Valdres is in the real estate registers at digitalarkivet. |

Back to the ship Veranda for a moment; if the information on this website is correct then today is the 155th anniversary of my gggfathers arrival in Quebec.
His parents and the remaining siblings who had not yet already emigrated arrived in Quebec 22 Jun 1869 on the ship Valkyrien. MYHREN, Anne, 7 MYHREN, Berthe, 53 MYHREN, Knud, 13 MYHREN, Niels Jorgensen, 63 MYHREN, Torstem, 18
I found some great photos online of the Valkyrien in Bergen Harbor 1873 http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/utstilling/eng/kkfoto.htm
In the 1870 census Torsten is living with his older brother Nels.
Nels Nelson M 36y Norway Liv Nelson F 41y Norway Nels Nelson M 7y Dacota Betsey Nelson F 5y Iowa Isabel Nelson F 3y Iowa Burd Nelson M 3m Iowa Thosten Nelson M 18y Norway
I haven't found any census record showing where Nils Jorgensen, Berthe, Knud and Anne were living.
Here are baptismal records showing the fluctuation in our family's surname during this period http://troefamily.com/photos/Worth%20County%20Baptisms.pdf |

So here is what I've pieced together on the Ship Veranda. Built in 1856 in Lillesand by shipbuilder Hans Martin Knudsen. She was owned by Samuel Nicolai Hansen, Nils Christian Eliassen & Jens Larsen. She had 6 different Captains during her 32 year life until being scrapped In 1888 in Arendal.
Regarding the voyage that brought my gggfather Nils Nilsen to America, she departed Bergen 06 May 1858 and arrived Quebec 18 Jun with 133 passengers under Captain N.C. (Eliassen) Flørenes. She departed Quebec 14 Jul bound for Bristol under contract with H Lemesurier, Jr. (timber merchants).
I have found no evidence that the ship was damaged in a storm or towed into port by a steamship as my gggfathter is quoted as having happened. The only other arrival in Qubec 18 Jun was another sailing ship, the brig William Parker with a cargo of molasses. |
