Yes Kċre, I know. You do seem to know the colorful stories that I missed or couldn't understand -- YET. That's OK. It gives me something to go back and work on again sometime in the near future. This is a life-long hobby and I love it.

The origin of priest Jens Jacobsen and Mette Jespersdatter is unknown.
He replaced Peder Jensen mentioned as minister 1575, and Jens Jacobsen was replaced by Jacob Pedersen first mentioned 1608.
You mentioned Denmark; Norwegian priests up to the 1600s had to take their exams at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, which was "a thorn in the eye" to the Norwegians.

- Frandz Frandzen Cudrio 1650-1710, shipowner in Skien, Telemark. His father Frandz Cudrio (Francois Coudrioux), a French Huguenot who had to flee from France in a boat that sank at the coast of Telemark, he was probably the only one that survived.
- Anders Cornix, owned buildings in Skien town and farms in sevaral parish´s in Telemark.

You always have something of interest to add, Kare!

Frandz the Huguenot, hmmm? Perhaps you can solve my Skjaak/Lom problem of where Frandz Ramstad c 1683-1771 floated in from? (Joking)

The Norwegian owner of this family-tree has Frants Johannesen Ramstad 1683-1771.
Seems like he was a military officer
(Floated in from the river Otta )

Frantz Johannesen Ramstad is nr 274 in this family-tree

That was a great "find", Kare. I will follow up with the person managing that Geni tree, Kare Tofte. If there is another priest involved I will have to re-find the book that a young student in Trondheim compiled about various priests and lineages in that area. I'm afraid I didn't record his name or the book since it didn't pertain to my search....at that time.

From 1718-47 the regiment consisted of enlisted soldies from Solĝr, Hedmark, Fċberg, eastern, southern and northern Gudbrandsdal and Fron.

Head of the regiment from 1710-1728 was colonel Jĝrgen Otto Brockenhuus 1664-1728 link followed by Fredrik von Lutzow.
The regiment participated in the Great Northern War from 1700-1720 link

Hmm...another coincidence...1718 was the year the Norwegian Army set fire to many places in northern Gudbrandsdal to prevent them falling into Swedish hands.... and burned down several of my family's places, including Kongsvold. I had written a short article about the war after learning the ensuing loss of life in the cold by the Swedish Army was mainly felt by the conscripted Savolax soldiers...another branch on my tree!

I haven't found the connecting generation between Frants/Frantz, the soldier, and the line of priests with Danish origins...will keep looking and obviously need the Oyer bygdebok! (Away for a short trip.)

Could not find any connection, only a daughter of Frantz N. Rieber is mentioned, a connection should be either a son or son in law named Johannes.

As always in wars, often those who are innocent who suffer most.

Four mountain "farms"; Kongsvold, Hjerkinn, Drivstua and Fokstua were burned by Norwegian soldiers to stop the Swedish army unit I suppose was "Karolinerne" from crossing the mountain.
They were stopped 10 Kilometer north from Kongsvold which was rebuild two years later.

1719 under command by general Carl Gustav Armfeldt "Karolinerna" failed to conquer Trondheim and during the withdrawal to Sweden 4200 of 5000 soldiers died in the Tydal mountain.

I'm still curious about the origins of the Heddal priest Jens Jacobsen, whose spouse was Mette Jespersdatter. I would, of course, like to connect them with Anders Jesperson....an ancestor of mine. The link I have is from a book telling about the bishop's travels through Telemark in 1593. Jens, the local priest, had two relatives at his place...a Matz Matzen from Skien and Niels Claussen Sonderborg.....Sonderborg is located in Denmark and may have some connection with a Brandt family. Wish I knew how to pursue this line!

Hi.
I need some time to read about Bishop Jens Nilsens visit to "Heiderdal kike" probably Hitterdal/Heddal and Telemark to look for a connection to Jens Jacobsen.
Facinating and challenging language.
