Could someone tell me if the first record in the record below is for the above person born in 1712? This is the only information I have about her except that she married Ellingsen Olsen Ruggeseter in 1733. If this is Kristi does this record also give her parent names?

Source information: Sogn og Fjordane county, Sogndal, Parish register (official) nr. A 1 (1689-1713), Birth and baptism records 1712, page 152-153.

Thank you for helping me with this.

So this is Kristi Sjursdr. What does Nytaarsdag mean? Is is normal for this period of time to only give a fathers name? Thank you.

So if I have this correct, Kristi, born Jan. 1, 1712 was the daughter of Siur Uglum. But I am confused as to who Johannes C. Lereim Siur was. How does he fit into this? I don't seem to be able to follow the relationships for Kristi Sjursdr. The pastors report was very interesting. Was this the fee for the whole year? Was the fee taxes or for living on the land? Thank you for your help. I am trying very hard to understand the records for this family.

Kċre is saying Siur Uglum (Kristi's dad) was married to Siri Johannesdatter.
Siri's father was Johannes Christoffersen Lereim. So Johannes C. Lereim is Kristi's maternal grandfather.
Siri's dad Johannes C. Lereim's estate went to probate when he died. His probate mentioned his daughter Siri, and it said that his daughter Siri was married to Siur Uglum.
Kċre mentions various records to show how the path leads from one relationship to the next. The probate record is how the father of Siri Johannesdatter was found.

I overdid the explanation, lol, but I hope it helps.

Thanks so much. Some names are just so similar it's hard to keep them straight. I think I can get this down correctly in my tree. You people are an amazing group.

You are right, this was the fee for the whole year.
Payment of the fee was normally around mid-winter.
It was the size of the farm that determined the fee to the landowner.
One could also work for the fee, harvesting etc, according to established rules.

The reason a woman was not mentioned by name, an exeption was if she owned the farm ex. as a widow until one of the children takes ower the farm or if she married again, then it was her husband who owned the farm, but children from her first marriage were heir to the farm or in a probate register (An extra fee to the the king in Copenhagen)

The authorities was only interested in names of the tax-payers and men and boys as potential soldiers.
