Does the marriage record of Jabob Ingebrightsen and Maren Monsd give the names of her parents? I found it on page 185. Dec 1702

Source information: Sogn og Fjordane county, Sogndal, Parish register (official) nr. A 1 (1689-1713), Marriage records 1703, page 184-185.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=11651&idx_id=11651&uid=ny&idx_side=-86
Permanent imagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20070515650271.jpg

I am looking at page 185 top record. I found the birth date of her husband and I am now trying to find Maren's birthdate and her parents names.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

No, it does not. That record lists three marriages - the grooms were Iver, Jacob and Elling

So I do have the right date for the marriage of Jacob Ingebrightsen and Maren Monds. I will have to start looking for her birth at least 20 years before the marriage. Those records in the late 1600's are hard to read. I can only hope to recognize the name Maren. Thanks for looking at the record for me.

Maren Monsdr is from Reppen farm.
Thus; her father could probably be listed as Mons Reppen.

Jane. - A lot of the people in that tree are also in my tree where I have found the Norwegian records. I can start looking for the actual records to verify the information so I can fill in the blanks in my tree. I hope I can find them in the Arkivet. You wrote ??. Was that to let me know that this might be something for me to look into? If I can find the original records it would be so exciting. Thanks!

Kare. In your post, are those links to the records? If they are I get an error. If not links I will search the Arkivet and see if I can find them. Thanks for your help.

If I need to find information in the Arkivet for someone born abt 1590 and died about 1655, how would I look it up? The name is Trond Hausa. It appears to me that the records don't go back that far, yet I found the birth and death in another family tree. But it didn't list any sources. Thanks.

Yes - ?? meant the tree might be worth looking into; I thought Mons Espensen might be Maren's father. Glad you and the forum are making such good progress!

I am not sure how fare back records from Sogndal are going. Varying from family to family.
Most records goes back to ca 1500.
Some goes further back, depending on if the documents are saved.

Digitalarkivet has ca 250 000 shelf meter some doc. goes back to the 1100 and the archive increases with ca 5000 meter a year.
The intention is that ca 10% (25 000 meter) will be online within 2030.
Much of this work are based on volunteers .
I takes a person ca a year to publish ca 40 shelf meter on a scanner.

Every time you look into a census the 100 most recent doc. are published down to the left.

The best source for most "genealogists" is a Bygdebook, as in this example "Sogndal bygdebok Stedje sokn" Sogndal bygdebook Stedje sub parish.
