I believe it is todays Hetletveit. Various spellings; Hetletveit, Hesletwedt, Hesletuett, Hessletuett, Hesletwet, Hetletvedt 1661, Hetletwed 1723.
Hesle - Hetle comes from "hassel" Hazel.
Hetletveit in Nedtrand on Sjernarøy.

Maybe it would be beneficial with a map where you can zoom and pan to your liking.

- I believe the family moving out from Sjernarøy i 1836 are listed on the bottom of right page where you find Knud Olsen 43 years old and his wife Siri Johannesdatter 43 years old from Hetletved and the children Eli Sophie (15 years), Ole (12 years), Mallene (9 years), Johannes (7 years), Berthe (4 years) and Søren (3 months).
Sørens baptismal record is #2 - born Dec 9 1835. Eli Sofie #19 - born Jelsa July 9 1821, Ole #7 - born April 24 1824, Malene #6 - born March 31 1827, Johannes #1 - baptized April 25 1830, (mothers name incorrect) Berthe Serine #5 - born Dec 30 1832. |

seems we are getting close! on the map a farm named hetletveit is highlighted on Ombo but are you saying the actual farm is on Sjernaroy? is there a way to show the location on Sjernaroy? Thanks again. Robert |

The location on Ombo is the right one. When Sjernarøy is used as an "address" this means Sjernarøy parish. You also say that it will be found in Nedstrand - this also refers to the parish. For location of Nedstrand see it on the map.

I believe Soren Olson's parents are Knud Olson Hetleveldt (1793-1849) & Sigridi(Siri) Jonsdadtter (1793-1895). And that Ole Olson Hetleveldt (1751-1837) and Britta (1764-1837) are Sorens Grandparents. If you do the math you will see that if Britta was Sorens Mother, with Soren's birth yr as 1835/36 she, Britta would have been about 73, at the time of Sorens birth. Just my theory. |

Sørens baptismal record, #2 posted 17/08/2013 clearly states that Søren Knudsens parents were Knud Olsen and Siri Johannesdatter, Hetletvedt. (It is most beneficial to adhere to the Norwegian naming practice.)
quote: And that Ole Olson Hetleveldt (1751-1837) and Britta (1764-1837) are Sorens Grandparents.
- also refer to the posting 17/08/2013 where the link to the marriage record for Knud Olsens parents, Ole Knudsen, Hetland and Britha Sørensdatter, Hetleved, is given.
quote: If you do the math you will see that if Britta was Sorens Mother, with Soren's birth yr as 1835/36 she, Britta would have been about 73, at the time of Sorens birth. Just my theory.
- no need to do any math, Sørens parents and grandparents are proven by birth and marriage records.

Two Tjetland farms in Rogaland, here.
Where in Norway are you looking for Wallem and Asheim (Åsheim)?
