Caroline Ellingsen was the name put in the Barron County History book, and she married Helge Halvorsen SKOLLERUDEIE. I know all of their children's names, and what they changed them to, to take American names. What I don't know is where Karoline Ellingsdatter's family is. Her father's name was Elling CHRISTOFFERSEN, and she was born in Drammen, Buskrud Norway about 1839.

Some of the Drammen churches' registers have been indexed and are searchable as databases at the Digitalarkivet. If all goes well here is the listing of the indexed baptismal record:

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebMeta.exe?slag=vismeny&fylkenr=6&knr=&katnr=4&aar=&dagens=&emnenr=1

This, for instance, may be your Caroline Ellingsdatter b abt 1839 leaving at age 23 in 1863 for Aadahlen:

Here is Caroline's confirmation record #8 on right hand page:
Source information: Buskerud county, Bragernes, Parish register copy nr. 2 (1852-1863), Confirmation records 1854, no page no.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8453&idx_id=8453&uid=ny&idx_side=-9

Here is Caroline's baptism #86:
Source information: Buskerud county, Bragernes, Parish register (official) nr. II 1 (1830-1847), Birth and baptism records women 1839, page 217.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8456&idx_id=8456&uid=ny&idx_side=-222

Both of these records confirm her father's patronymic as Kristenson / Christenson not Christoffersen as you had earlier. Her mother's name is Allete Marie Syversdatter.

That has been very helpful. I found the original name at, http://slektbase.elsrud.com/people/p00000bo.htm#I46310. I've noticed that there are errors in several sources, but I'm learning to ask others and compare until I come up with the correct information. Your help is very appreciate.

Good idea to ask questions, view and judge the records yourself. It's a very good thing Norway has made all these records available to any with internet capability.
