quote: Did the daughter die on the 25th and they were buried on 15 Apr?
- not possible of course. Looked up the bapt. record and found she was born Nov 19 1826, baptized at home and this was confirmed in church Dec 25, see #74.

Just a thought, but I see that Skrøviki (Schrøvigen, Skrøvig) is located next to the lake Slidrefjorden. It's possible that Tidemand drowned in the lake, and was found 5 weeks later.

Einar - But the baby and her mother were buried together?
Jan- 5 weeks did seem a very long time for burial to occur. Thanks for all the information to all. |

Since the burial was 5 weeks after the death, it must be because the body was lost, either in the sea or up in the mountains. The farm is located 382 meters (1250 ft.) above sea level, and September is too early to be caught by a snowstorm. And if there was a big accident in the area, like a flood or an earthslide, there should be more ppl buried in the same timeframe.

There must not be too many reasons that a burial would be delayed that long. So someone must have known he had an accident in order to get date of death and it took 5 weeks to recover the body. |

Yes. I would say drowning while fishing, taking a bath or fetching drinking water from the nearby freshwater lake Slidrefjorden seems likely.
