Exercise caution --Olaf and Anne Rohde were divorced--(unless they remarried later) and sometimes there are still left over hard feelings.

Another route to descendants is to follow the children of Nicholai Johan Skjarstad ("Nick"). Elizabeth seems to be "Betty" in the 1940 census. Arlene is said to have married Lyle Jenkins (rootsweb tree posted by jkmarler)

Ann Skjarstad 28 b abt 1912 Wisconsin, divorced, proprietor, candy store

Other people in whom you might have an interest are Ole Martinson Skjarstad who lived in Seattle.

Here is a marriage of Nick Skjarstad to Hazel Overly Howard on 20 June 1943:
http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/DigitalObject/ViewAsJpeg?ID=43F6C02795FA2C631278C9E54B19990C&ViewAsJpegPage=0

This marriage ended in divorce. In the Seattle Daily Times, dated Friday 5 Jan 1945, pg 18, col 6 in an article titled "Divorces Asked"
Hazel from Nick Skjarstad, cruelty

And apparently Nick married again as there is another divorce granted found in the Seattle Daily Times Saturday, 27 Nov 1948 pg 10, col 6 under the heading "Interlocutory Divorce Decrees Granted":
Lillian from Nick J. Skjarstad

This is from The Free Dictionary by Farlex online:
interlocutory decree n. a court judgment which is temporary and not intended to be final until either a) other matters come before the judge, or b) there is a specified passage of time to determine if the interlocutory decree (judgment) is "working" (becomes accepted by both parties) and should become final. Interlocutory decrees were most commonly used in divorce actions, in which the terms of the divorce were stated in an interlocutory decree, which would be in force until a final decree could be granted after a period of time (such as one year after serving the divorce petition). The theory was that this would provide for a period in which reconciliation might be possible, and would also test the efficacy of the original order which might be changed upon a motion of either party. Interlocutory decrees of divorce have been abandoned as a procedure in most states, because they seldom had the desired effect and appeared to waste the parties' time.

Here was much interesting to read. No, Oluf and Nick had no Brother called Hans. Their father was called Hans Larsen Skjarstad

I know that Nick Skjarstads married and divorces and have the marriercertificate from 1943 and 1946 ( Hazel and Lillian). The big question is have they got any children with Nick? I know Nick died alone in Fairbanks in 1972 without known relatives.

I have tried to order his deathcertificate, used a link on Ancestry.com but it should be problem. It seems to be only nearest Family whom can order this.

Nick Hansen had four brothers in addition to Olaf. Their name were Hagen Leonard, Emil Johan and Julius Kristian Bernhard. I have not heard they emigrated to America.
