Maybe David Yaw, a poster here at the forum, could help with information about divorce records in Britain. In US, its usually a county level record and information about them is available in most cases because of the need to make sure your bills are getting paid and that you draw the line clearly that you are no longer responsible for someone else's bills...
Ann, as Jackie suggested, I checked out marriage and divorce records for John Johansen - found the marriage record for him and Elizabeth M Flavin already reported, but no divorce record. Do you know if the divorce took place in UK or Norway ??
Don't let me kid you I'm an expert on this - I'm certainly not. But I'll be down at the National Archives in Kew in the next few days, and I'll enquire further there.

Thankyou David. The divorce would have been in UK from what I have been told. It would have been some time in 1950's. Regards, Ann
Ann, I checked this out at the National Archives in Kew today. As I guess you have seen yourself, neither Ancestry nor Findmypast have divorce records from around this time. The NA pointed us in the right direction - please follow this link.

From your post above, I am guessing you don't know the court where Elizabeth got her decree, and hence you don't have the case number either. In that case it looks like you will have to go via the Principal Registry in Central London - unfortunately that is also the most expensive option at £65 !!
The link will take you to further links including a form to complete to request a search.
Hope this helps |

Thankyou for the link David. I am guessing it would have been Swansea Court, so I shall check there first. Cheers and thankyou for your help. regards Ann |
