You are welcome.
Anders Toresen Kløvstad and Berte Marie Nilsdatter had 4 more children I want to share if you are intersted.
- Katrine Marie 1798 who married Paul Jacobsen Svinterud
- Tor 1801 who lived on Skinnes-eie, a sub farm under Skinnes 1822, later on farm Brønstad and died 1870 on Høydal.
- Sjul 1804 on Nedre (Lower) Dal
- Karen Turine 1808-65 married 1845 Timand Svendsen Komnes 1799-1861.

Sjul 1804, the name probably comes from farm Kløvstad where Sjul was used for generations and the Kløvstad family goes back to Sjul Kløvstad, owner of Kløvstad 1614.
I have not looked into any connection between Anders Toresen and Sjul Kløvstad, just a thought.

Sandsvær is my backyard in genealogy.

An intersting couple is Karen Turine Åjordet who married Timand Svendsen Komnes 1799-1861.
He bought farm Komnes 1846 from his father Svend Christiansen Komnes.
Timand was the priests assistent in Komnes sub parish/Sansdsvær.
They married Wed. Nov. 12.1845 #21
Komnes stave church was demolished when a new church was build 1881.
Timand married in his own church He was owner of Komnes stave church from 1844.
1853 Timand was elector, a person that selected member to the Parliament fom "his" district.
They got no children and created a mutual Testament 1846 and a legat on 4000 SpesieDaler (1,25 million Kroner in 2012) where the interest every year should be distributed to those who did not want to recieve support from the public welfare agency.

The probate after Timand and Karen 1865 was valued (net wortht) to 8300 SpesieDaler (2,5 million Kroner 2012) and was the largest assest rec. in Sandsvær in the 1800.

Katrine Marie Andersdatter 1798 who maried Paul Jacobsen Svinterud had no children.

Anders Toresen Kløvstad 1761-1811, his parents:
Tore/Tord Sjulsen Kløvstad 1709-1782 and Anne Andersdatter Lande 1719-1802, they married 1745.
Tore Sjulsen, his parents;
Sjul Toresen Kløvstad ca 1678-d 1742 and Ingrid Olsdatter Strenge 1676-1736, they married 1703
Sjul Toresen Kløvstad, his parents;
Tore Sjulsen Kløvstad ca 1642 d. 1701, the priests assistent, and Maren Mortensdatter ca 1647 d. 1708, they married Trinit. 19; Oct. 26.1674, see on top left hand; Trin 19. Tore Kløffstad and Maren Mortensd. Link
Tore Sjulsen Kløvstad, his parents;Sjul Jonsen Kløvstad, owner of Kløvstad 1614, d.within 1666 and Anne Timandsdatter ca 1585 d. 1677. Anne Kløvstad 1652 was by "Heksa" (witch or bad woman) Helle Jonsdatter accused for beeing a "Trollkjærring" a Magic or Paranormal woman.
Sjul Jonsen`s father was Jon, he cultivated Kløvstad 1593

Maren Mortensdatter ca 1647 d. 1708 was acc. to the probate after Tore Sjulsen 1702 daughter to Åse Olsdatter Bø d. after 1683. Åse`s husband is rec. as both Morten Olsen and Morten Anundsen Strenge ca 1604 d. within 1661, Morten Anundsen seems to be correct.

Åse Olsdatter Bø born on farm Hvam d. after 1683 has the longest family tree in Sandsvær back to Nicolas on Søum (Sodheim) early 1300.

Kløvstad is probably from the Viking age and is mentioned in a document written on Hedenstad Feb. 16.1399 as Klaufuastadum.

Kåre - in a post you mentioned Karen Turine who married Timand Svendsen in 1845. I have been trying to find her death record and the only one that came close is the following:

Source information: Buskerud county, Sandsvær, Parish register (official) nr. 6 (1857-1868), Death and burial records 1864, page 286.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=1127&idx_id=1127&uid=ny&idx_side=-257
Permanent imagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20051111011223.jpg

# 5 is the one I was looking at but the parent in the second to last column doesn't seem to be right. And I think I might have the year wrong. Unless I am misunderstanding the year of death and year of probate. Did she die in 1864 and was probate in 1865?

Hope you can help me understand this one. Thank you for all your help.

Parents are very seldom named in a death / funeral record. The far right columns are a special list of still-born babies and that's why there is a set of parental names.

You are right, Timand Komnes widow Karen Tuine Andersdatter died on Komnes of "tæring" tuberculosis Jan. 10. 1864.
The probate was held 1865.

Probates for this part of Sandsvær (Efteløt) is not online yet, only Hedenstad from 1862-87.

Kåre - I think I found the birth record of Berte Marie Nielsdatter. Not sure if I am reading the record correctly.

Source information: Buskerud county, Sandsvær, Parish register (official) nr. 2 (1725-1809), Birth and baptism records 1765, page 223.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8577&idx_id=8577&uid=ny&idx_side=-224
Permanent imagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20070316650466.jpg

If this is correct, is her father Niels Olssen age 60 in the 1801 census for Sandsvær?
1763 is the person I think is her father.

When you get a chance could you take a look at this? Thanks so much for all the help you have given me.

You have found the correct Berte/Birte Marie Nilsdatter born 1765,
She was daughter to Nils Olsen Komnes 1731-74 from farm Gulli and Kirtsi Svendsdatter Komes 1744-74. He was a widower from Gulli when he married Kirsti Svendsdatter 1764.

This is the same farm Timand Olsen Komnes bought 1846 who married Karen Turine Andersdatter Åjordet 1845.

Practise makes one better in genealogy.
Kirsti Svendsatter b. 1744 is a challenge because the ink is bad so the names of the children are almost invicible.

Her father Svend Olsen 1703-72 was b. on Ristvedt and lived on farm Værp where he 1742 married Berthe Kristiansdatter Koth 1721-52 so Kirsti was born on Værp and bap. in Hedenstad church as: Svend Værps "Datter" Daugter Kirsti.
Svend bought Komnes 1750 for 1700 RiksDaler from Peder Knopf.
This family owned Komnes to 1865 when Timand Olsen and Karen Turine gave away their entire fortune.
