Posted by JaneC on page 4.

A candidate:
1940
New York, New York, New York
1 West 85th Street
Irving Jacobsen 27 born about 1913 New York, clothing store manager

A good candidate. In the 1940 Census there are only two candidates in the 1940 Census for Irving Jacobson or Jacobsen who are heads of households (Not Sons), born 1911 to 1915 and living in the four bououghs of New York. One of them is married to a Belle and we have eliminated that family earlier. The other one is married to an Evelyn Arkin. Mother-In-Law lliving with them.

Here is the family of Evelyn Arrkin 1930 Census, Note they are living in Brooklyn.

1930 United States Federal Census
Name: Evelyn Arkin
[Evelyn Alberto]
Gender: Female
Birth Year: abt 1916
Birthplace: New York
Race: White
Home in 1930: Brooklyn, Kings, New York
Map of Home:
Marital Status: Single
Relation to Head of House: Daughter
Father's Birthplace: Massachusetts
Mother's name: Mabel Arkin
Mother's Birthplace: United States
Household Members:
Name Age
Mabel Arkin 34

Evelyn Arkin 14

And birthdate in 1906 puts him outside the +/- 5 years rule of thumb.

Thanks Ron.

When you first mentioned Evelyn, in your opening post, you said she might be Ruth Evelyn. You were right!

You also said Irvin might be Kåre Irving. It could be you are right!

Don't think there's enough evidence to say that this one is or is not the Irving born 18 Nov 1914, unless you've seen something that you haven't posted here....My opinion.

Back in an edit:
The option to contact descendants of Ruth Evelyn is (likely) available, and they might have the answer.

some of the information seemed wrong.

I looked at about five of those Family Trees. All are quite the same and in spite of fairly good documentation of three different census's have Hyman Jacobson born in 1854. Doubtful based on age of children and contradicted by all of the Census Data, which have him born in 1886 or 1887 or 1887.

But I think looking at the data from the best of the Trees that the below Irving Jacobsen is a very unlikley candidate.

Irving Jacobson
Birth 18 November 1914 in New York
Death 27 September 1990 in Stafford, Tolland, Connecticut
