Trying to find out information for Walter G. Thompson family, wife, Anna Sophia Anderson born in Fillmore County Minnesota 1859, to parents from Norway, who moved to Denver in the early 1900's. If he had siblings in that area-also burial information.

The 1900 US census shows "Walduner G. Thompson" listed as born Oct 1872 in Minnesota to Norway born parents. His wife of less than a year, "Anna" is listed as born June of 1871 in Minnesota to Norway born parents.

How many other Minnesota record have you already searched for information? The free databases of FamilySearch.org show at least three children born to that couple in Minnesota - Esther in 1908, Clifford in 1903, and Alice in 1905. Those databases also list possible information to be available on a marriage record between "Walter" and Anna in Fillmore Co. 1899 or 1900.

You really can't link the families to Norway records yet until you have identified their parents and looked for information about their ages and when they came to the US.

This might be that same family in the 1880 Census. This time Waldermund is male, however his birth year is listed as 1868 a little off? Son Thomas was born in Norway and son Andrew was born in Minnesota.

Here is Walter G. Thompson in 1895 Minnesota State census:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MQ85-26Y

Here is the Walter Thompson family in 1910 in Colorado:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MKWY-3N7

All the children were born in Minnesota the last child in the house is age 2 so they moved between 1908-1910.

Here is Walter in the 1920 census, widowed
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MX2N-ZWC

So the birthyears for Walter vary by quite a bit:

1859 original post
1895 abt 1870
1900 Oct 1872
1910 abt 1869
1920 abt 1863

Here is a family in 1875 which might be the correct Thompson, interesting since there is a six year old named Gabriel W. which Walter might have memorialized by using a G as his middle initial elsewhere:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MKN6-49B

Household Gender Age Birthplace
Andrew Thompson M Norway
Johanna Thompson F Norway
Gabriel Thompson M Norway
Ann Thompson F Norway
Thomas Thompson M Norway
Andrew Thompson M Minnesota
Jacob Thompson M Minnesota
Gabriel W Thompson M Minnesota
Eddie Thompson M Minnesota

Here's a link to this family in the 1870 census:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MDHS-W2Y

Andrew Thompson M 43 Norway
Ann Thompson F 36 Norway
Gabriel Thompson M 13 Norway
Ann Thompson F 11 Norway
John Thompson M 8 Norway
Andrew Thompson M 6 Norway
James Thompson M 4 Minnesota
G V Thompson M 1 Minnesota
Eddie Thompson M 0 Minnesota

This may be the birth record of the youngest son Eddie:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-22106-46052-88?cc=1920099&wc=M6VC-TMQ:212869501,212869502

Here is this family in the 1865 census:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/SPSM-LPX

Andrus Thompson M
Ann Thompson F
Gabrel Thompson M
Thormod Thompson M
Andas Thompson M
Ann Thompson F

Here's a candidate for the elder Gabriel in the family in findagrave:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=thompson&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=25&GScnty=1332&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GSsr=81&GRid=49428094&df=all&

The elder son Gabriel in the 1900 census birthdate given as July 1857 and migration year as 1863 (meaning if the younger Gabriel V or W. is Walter Thompson then the family won't appear in the 1865 Norway census.)
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M9S4-5V6

Possibly the father in the Minnesota death index online:
THOMPSON, ANDREW
Date of Birth: <1826>
Place of Birth: NORWAY
Mother Maiden Name: na
certid# 1906-46-668
Date of Death: 06 Jul 1906
County of Death: FILLMORE

From the Minnesota deaths and burials database the Andrew Thompson d 1906, father's name Thormod Thompson, mother Anne
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FDZF-4ZY

A possible Anders Thormodson #7, father is Thormod Olsen:
Source information: Rogaland county, Suldal in Suldal, Parish register (official) nr. A 8 (1836-1853), Confirmation records 1843, page 98.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=1693&idx_id=1693&uid=ny&idx_side=-96

Here is a possible marriage for the parents of this family Anders Thormodsen Roalqvam and Anne Gabrielsdatter Roalqvam 20 May 1855 #1:
Source information: Rogaland county, Suldal in Suldal, Parish register copy nr. B 3 (1848-1866), Marriage records 1855-1856, page 113.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=15895&idx_id=15895&uid=ny&idx_side=-42

The eldest son Gabriel #31 born 21 July:
Source information: Rogaland county, Suldal in Suldal, Parish register copy nr. B 3 (1848-1866), Birth and baptism records 1856, page 17.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=15895&idx_id=15895&uid=ny&idx_side=-17

The son Thormod #28:
Source information: Rogaland county, Suldal in Suldal, Parish register copy nr. B 3 (1848-1866), Birth and baptism records 1861, page 25.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=15895&idx_id=15895&uid=ny&idx_side=-27

The family leaving Suldal for America #19-23, parents and 3 children (and other possible relatives as well since there are a couple of families who have Gabrielson/datter patronymics and from Roalqvam):
Source information: Rogaland county, Suldal in Suldal, Parish register (official) nr. A 9 (1854-1868), Emigration records 1862, page 200.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=1694&idx_id=1694&uid=ny&idx_side=-187

All that remains to be seen is if it can be proven (definitively, not just circumstantially) that these people are Walter G. Thompson's people

Wow thank you everyone for the wonderful information!!
I have found similar results but not as in depth as you have provided--
I have found I think some relative of Esther Viola Thompson, Walter and Anna's daughter who married Earl Lamb--I am now trying to see if Ernest was married-yes, the family lived in Denver from about 1905 to 1915--then the next census shows Walter G and Ernest in Denver, but no one else--I am still looking for Anna Anderson etc--
thank you thank you thank you!!!

Regarding the Anna Anderson post, Enok her father--Anna named a child Isabel, her mother's name, who must have died before Anna and Walter G had Ana and Esther Viola, 1906 and 1908 respectively. My dad, Richard, Clifford's son, told me that Anna had stomach cancer and that the family split up after her death-after what year I haven't found out yet--Esther went to live with Pauline and Eline Nordhouse as a lodger--I don't know what happened to Ana, and am trying to find out about Ernest.-Again, many thanks to all!

Here is a 1913 Denver city directory page with Walter G. Thompson:
http://www.distantcousin.com/directories/co/denver/1913/Page.asp?Page=1721

There are several "Mrs. Anna Thompson" in this directory but none listed at Walter's address. Looking at more years between 1910 and 1920 might help narrow when Anne died.

There's no way to rule this Anna either in or out. The mentioned followup article wasn't found. Here from the Denver Post Tues 18 Feb 1919, page 17:

"THOMPSON-- Mrs. Anna Thompson of 1305 Delaware street. Remains at the W.P. [copy missing]an & son funeral chapel. Services will be announced later...."

The funeral home name was readable on other entries as W.P. Horan and son funeral chapel.

Here is some info about the records of the Horan funeral chapel at the Denver Public Library:
http://history.denverlibrary.org/research/horan/index.html

Drat the luck, this Anna is not found in the online index to the Horan records

Walter G. Thompson mentions in the Denver Post Saturday, 1 Aug 1908 pg 11:

"Transfers
"... Case & Ebert's Addition, Lots 23 and 23 [sic], Block 42, Ella F. Cox to Walter G. Thompson, $3100."

Then less than a year later a transfer mentioned in Denver Rocky Mountain News, Friday 4 June 1909, page 10 for virtually the same property:

"Case & Ebert's Addition, Lots 22 and 23, Block 42, Walter G. Thompson to Mary Stout, $2600."

Looks like Walter lost $500 on the deal, a not inconsiderable sum in the day...
