Dear Contributers,
Thank you for finding the enlistment date for Granpa Clifford--the true Norwegian!
And also for the tip for the directories for Ernest and Sofia-have found an Ernest in one of them-
I will ask my dad if Clifford may have went to the Merchant Marine after the Navy stint, because the next record is of his marriage in 1925--
Wonderful help as always!
Thank you--will keep up the searching-
There is also some guest researchers coming to my local Family History Center on Tuesday-any questions you might suggest for them for me to ask to help?
Blessings,
Diane

In the British Armed Forces during WW1 young men (children) mainly in the Army and Navy joined the colours:

When, years ago, I was researching War Graves in Belgium and Northern France I stood alongside a headstone of a Private Condon. 14 years. Royal Irish Regiment. He was laid next to Private McCarthy. 47 years. Same regiment. Local knowledge at that time said they were the youngest and the oldest killed in that particular battle.

Thank-God we have now moved on from that terrible " War to end all Wars"..If only.

The age on this fellow is not a really close match but he is a possible for Walter since his name is a match and Denver is the location. The ink on the paper was a bit too full so some of the characters are difficult to read and column 7 was truncated on the right hand margin ____since it was in the binding edge:

From the Tribumne-Republican, Greeley Colorado 15 June evening 1934 page 10, col 7:

AP
"57th Auto Victim Dies
Denver June 14--Death took Walter G. Thompson, 60 (or 66?) from th___
he received when he was run d_____
an auto here brought the traffic ____
ities in Denver vicinity since ______
to 57."
