Jackie,
Regarding your question: "What do you know about the family of Brit Torkjelsdatter Nordistugu, Peter Lien's mother? Did she have a sister or half sister named Inga or Ingeri?"
Below you will find Peter Lien's mother Brit Torkjelsdatter Nordistugu (1.) as well as her siblings including: 6. Ingrid Torkjellsdotter Nordistugu, b. 1819, of Bakkeberg, Bøverdal, Lom, Oppland, Norway.

also in Bygdabok for Lom bind 4: Gards- og ættesoge for Bøverdalen, Jon Kolden, (Lesja, Norway: Lom kommune, 2007), page 260. I was very fortunate to stumble upon the existence of this book on the internet and was equally fortunate to be able to purchase a copy from Lom kommune in Norway. see also: https://histfam.familysearch.org//getperson.php?personID=I17428&tree=Lom which will show you her ancestors back to abt 1714.
She married my great grandfather Syver Persson Storlii in 1833 in Lom, Oppland.
Thanks for responding. Does the Lom bygdebok trace Ingri's descendants? |

Jackie, The book is in Norwegian (which I do not speak nor read) but from what I have been able to figure out, there is no sign of descendants even though the book references another farm but does not reference a spouse nor family. From what I can see, the online line of descent for Ingrid Torkjellsdotter Nordistugu goes no further than her entry either.

At MOMS (Minnesota Official Marriages System) website for Watonwan county between 1 Jan 1880 and 31 Dec 1885, there are no Marit of any last name marrying. There are no Marie / Maria Olson, of any spelling Olson marrying during the same period. There are only 2 Mary Olson, of any spelling Olson, marrying during that period:
WATONWAN 07/14/1883 LEE, PETER S OLESON, MARY WATONWAN 03/12/1881 MOSTIN, OLE A OLSON, MARY

Jackie: I have attached to to an email: - copies of my father's (Frank Oliver), aunts Inga, Lena, Anna, Pauline, *Mabel, and uncle Severt's Register of births for Long Lake, Watonwan County, Mn ) which identifies Inga's parents to be "Marit Lee" & "Peter S. Lee" on some records and as "Mary" Lee on others. - a copy of my aunt Inga Lee's 1949 death certificate in which Inga's son Clarence Willis (my cousin) identifies Inga's parents to be "Marith Olson" & "Peter Sever Lee" and states Inga's birthplace as St. James, Mn. USA.

Thank you so much for your expertise and assistance / information / time & trouble in tracking down my grandmother Marit. I would never had been able to find her on my own (I have been trying for over 10 years!)
I can now order markers for her and my grandfather Peter Sever Lee's graves that have gone unmarked for nearly 60 years (ever since the simple wooden crosses that had been erected in 1904 & 1906 disappeared around 1956.) I didn't want to order the markers until I could definitively say where and when Marit was born in Norway. Thanks again....
