Hi All,

I am an Australian descendant of Anne Stennersdatter. Olaf is the half brother of my great grandfather Anders Gundersen who is also a son of Anne Stenersdatter.

Any help locating further information about Olaf and his family would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
David Gunderson (Brisbane, Australia)

Seljord is in Telemark, Norway. The parish records of Seljord as available as digitized images at the Digitalarkivet website list the birth of Olaf Pedersen on 13 Sept 1847 and his baptism as 21 Nov of that year. He was born out of wedlock to Peder Olsen and Anne Stenersdatter.

Birth of Olaf and Anders, birth of Anne Stenersdatter, and Anne's ancestry are discussed in 2007 in a thread "Gunder Jorgensen Toe 1851 to Minnesota."

Olaf was a twin, his twin was stilborn boy. Their father was a widower.
Olaf was Anne Stenersdatters 2nd illegitimate child.

Thanks Einar...I am descended from Anne's 1st illegitimate child.

Thanks JaneC...yes my cousin Shauna Hicks started that thread in 2007.
We have only just made new connections with our Minnesota family tree...however Olaf is a new thread not researched previously.

Is it just a coincidence that an Anne Stenerdtr (b. ca. 1819) was married in Seljord in 1845?
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=1401&idx_id=1401&uid=ny&idx_side=-281

I don't find her in Norway for the 1865 census and I don't find Ole/Olaf Pedersen in Seljord for the 1865.

The marriage record above indicates that the father of that bride has already emigrated to North America. (Perhaps Clayton Co. Iowa? - see US 1860 census)

If you have any additional information about Anne Stenersdtr and/or her son Ole/Olaf Pedersen after 1847 please share it.
