Halvor Larsen Dalen worked in Eidsborg in Dalen with his Brother Anund 1910, both married.

Both worked as "Brynestensarbeider" Whetstoneworkers in Eidsborg, Norways oldest export article from early Viking Age ca 700 AC link

Thanks Kåre for all these discoveries...you certainly know how to find every little thread in the records. You must still enjoy helping other people locate their family heritage.
Is it important to keep their farm names eg. Dalen in their family name when searching?

You are right David.
Dalen (means Valley) would be the family name, very common in Norway.
There is a challenge searching Dalen in Telemark. Dalen is like Mo also a sub parish in Tokke municipality.
You seems to have lots of relatives in Telemark.
I have searched for a familytree or other info with no sucess so fare.

Michael Swanson of University of North Dakota has had some time to look over the various Bygdebøker in their extensive collection. He found some information but no definitive id for Anne Stenersdatter.(Steinersdatter).

Here is the summary of his findings. I will post from the various books when I can.

I have finally had time this week to work on your request, but it doesn’t appear that the Anne, daughter of Stener Halvorsen, is the right one. In the attached file, you will find Anne listed as no. 38 on p. 52 of the ættesoga book for Kviteseid (Berge farm). She was born at the Heggtveit farm, and I find mention of her parents at the top of p. 400 in the gardsoga book at Heggtveit nordre. The entry for her on p. 52 mentions she died in 1845, which I was able to confirm by checking Digitalarkivet. Her burial was in 1846 in the Kviteseid church records, though her confirmation the previous year at Heggtveit was in the Seljord church records.

I also scanned the pages from Seljord, v. 4 where an Anne Steinarsdatter is mentioned as the mother of Anders in 1844 (see p. 86) and as the mother of Olav in 1847 (p. 101-102).

Lastly, I checked for a farm called Bugten in Telemark and found one in Solum. I checked this section of our bygdebok for Solum, but there was no matching information for a Anne Steinarsdatter.

I hope this information is somewhat helpful, though the search continues to determime exactly who this Anne Steinarsdatter was.
