Hi,

I am new to this and a unsure if this is the correct place to post. My mother frequently translated letters and documents for people who had relatives from Norway. She is unable to continue, so I have been finishing the translations she was working on.

I have come across a copy of a Coon Valley/Westby, WI. newspaper column dated March 20, 1895. It was written by John Johnson and describes the Surprise 50th wedding anniversary party the children of Trond and Christence Lindevig arranged for their parents.

This is a charming snapshot of that time. I have translated all but one name and one word - the dialects from Norway evolved continually, and it can sometimes be a real challenge to decipher.

There is nothing attached to the item telling me who commissioned the translation, or any other contact information. The Lindevig family has many descendants - perhaps someone here is interested in copies of the article or would even simply like to help me figure out my mystery word?

Let me know and if I can figure out how to attach pictures, I will attach copies here. If not, I'll be happy to send them to an email address.

Grandaughter of Morten Fredrik Løkke and Marie Carlsen

Hi I saw your post about the translations done for the Lindevig family. Trond & Christence are my 4th great grandparents! I might not be the best person to ask about the mystery word but I will add a link to a Facebook page called (coon valley wi history project) and there’s another page for a museum there called norskedalen. Trond and christence house is there and still standing to this day and much of the population there are related to them and could offer help. https://www.facebook.com/share/S4zou2s5WKo4uEG9/?mibextid=K35XfP
