[This family was somewhat middleclass and educated.
Julia S. Lee
My grand aunt
Birth 24 December 1880 in Wisconsin
Death 27 January 1958 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, USA

Could this be correct that Lena is Lorentine B Andreasson and not Krogness for whatever reason?]

Actually both names could be correct. Lorentine's fathers name could have been Andreas and they could have lived at one time or another on a farm in Norway with a name similar to or identical to Krogness. So in Norway she would have been named Lorentine Andreassdatter Krogness

Actually I had not devoted much time to Lorentine, but here are some leads. The 1900 US Census states that both Oliver and Lorentine came to the US in 1868 but were not married until 1877. So maybe they met in the US and not in Norway. Thus Lorentine could have come from anywhere in Norway. I also noticed that her middle name was given as Bergitte in one of the records. Looking at the Norwegian 1865 census this person caught my eye. Lorentine Andreasdatter born 1856 on Kraknaes farm. Looking up her birth record she was born June 29, 1856. Your Lorentine shows June 1855 on the 1900 US Census. Not exact but sometimes dates are off. Also her birth record in Digitalarkivet shows her name to be Lorentine Bergitte. Here are the records.

Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927 about Lorentine Bergitte Andreas Mathiasdatter
Name: Lorentine Bergitte Andreas Mathiasdatter
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 29 jun 1856
Baptism Date: 17 aug 1856
Baptism Place: Lenvik, Troms, Norway
Father: Andreas Mathias Eriksen
Mother: Margrette Marie Pedersdr
FHL Film Number: 307170

Note in the 1865 Norwegian Census she is living with her foster parents.

Now finding the marriage record for Lorentine was relatively easy.

Wisconsin Marriages, pre-1907
Name: Lorentine Berg Anderson
Marriage Date: 24 Feb 1877
County: Eau Claire
Volume: 01
Page: 0292

However you notice that only one of the parties names is given. Finding Olaus ie Oliver was not easy. The only other name in the 323 names married in 1877 in Eau Claire county for 24 Feb 1877 was this one.

Wisconsin Marriages, pre-1907
Name: Hans Andreasse Lie
Marriage Date: 24 Feb 1877
County: Eau Claire
Volume: 01
Page: 0292

You will notice also that the volume and page number are the same. Why Hans for a first name, I do not know. But no other person was married on 24 Feb 1877,

My goodness - I hardly slept last night trying to put this information together. Thanks to lyndal40, eibache and Kaarto. I never expected so much help, and so soon. I have a beautiful picture of the whole family I wish I could share with you all. I grew-up with their wedding photos hanging over the piano. There were oval portrait pictures, in the original wood frames. I will look again at the Mathias Lee possible link - Maybe there is a way yet to find where the Lee's "li"came from in Norway. On another note .....in the middle of all this last night my husband came home from hunting in northern Wisconsin. So I can now slowly study all this. Hugs to you all!
