married

Gerda Ulerika Ekholm

Nice - that 1900 address for Ole S Larson (Coeur D´ Alene Indian Reservation, Kootenai, Idaho) is the same as for Amund Larson and wife Emma Moen.

Marit Olsdatter died 27 November 1864 in Lom; buried 03 December 1864
age 40 [born about 1824]
#56

I didn't see that family tree - but maybe it's the same person who created the Find-a-Grave memorial for Ole S Larson (she left a personal note on the memorial).

okay, got the tree - they have Mari Olsdatter born 25 June 1824 in Lom, no parents noted, no source, but that matches the following birth-baptism record for Mari Olsdatter:#56 on right-hand page. (maybe Mari birth has already been posted?)
SOURCE: Oppland fylke, Lom, Ministerialbok nr. 3 (1801-1825), Fødte og døpte 1824, side 65.

In Mari-Lars marriage record, her father is Ole Hansen. In this birth, y father is Ole Hansen.

I think we felt that this was the marriage of Lars Hansen and Mari Olsdatter. And yes her father is listed as Ole Hansen. Number 15

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8916&idx_id=8916&uid=ny&idx_side=-48

And that this was the baptism record for Mari Olsdatter See number 56

So I put this one in place here, it is the same as the one you intended us to reach.

Not much has been posted about Hans Larson (Rusten) 1851-1908 and Marith Olsdatter Moen.
Page 2 posts Find-a-Grave memorials for both, buried Saint Olaf cemetery in Ormsby, Martin, Minnesota.

Also page 2, the 1880 census:
Albin, Brown, Minnesota
Hans Larson 28
Marit Larson 30
Mary Larson 6 b Norway
Lars Larson 3 b Norway
Lena Larson 1 b Minnesota

Also on Find-a-Grave, also at Saint Olaf in Ormsby:

Lena Hanson Larson died 1892
...but the stone marker also is inscribed Rusten.
Stone seems shared with
Albert Hanson Larson died 1892

Also on FAG website, buried at Saint Olaf in Ormsby:

Lars H Larson 1877-1955

Minnesota Official Marriage System (MOMS) has
Lars H Larson marries Bertina Sophia Bertilson
14 Dec 1905 in Watonwan county, Minnesota

FAG has Bertina S Larson died 1924, buried at Saint Olaf in Ormsby.

Without too much more checking, children of Lars and Bertina include Hans and Sigrid.

Minnesota Historical Society Birth Index and online database of Watonwan county births are two resources for more info (for example Hans Larson born 18 Oct 1906 baptized 22 Oct 1906 at Odin; Sigrid Larson b 1908)

This link points to obit for a Warren Larson, born 02 Nov 1920 in Odin to Lars H and Bertina (Bertilson) Larson. He would be a grandson of Hans Larson (Rusten) and Marit Olsdatter Moen:

I've wondered whether the cholera epidemic ca 1892 played a role in some deaths in this extended family.

A granddaughter of Edward Engebø posted here:

Laura, I do not know if you have ever used the Farm History Books (Bygdebøker in Norwegian), but they can be a very useful source of information about the farms and about the families that occupied them. They can be a little hard to use since they focus on the farm and if the ancestors you are tracking move to another farm you might have to search for that farm in another place in the book or even sometimes a different book alttogther. Anyway I was at the library the other day and looked up the book for Lom. Called the Bygdebok for Lom v 1-4. by Jon Kolden.I will be glad to e-mail the scans to you if you want to send me an e-mail through the Ancestry.com e-mail. system. I have summarized some of the information below in a spreadsheet format. I also translated some of the words into English just to make it easier to use.

Here is the famly of your Hans Larsen including his father and mother and their whole family, and his grandfather and grandmother and their family. Some of the information could be slightly different than we have given you. For example the author of the Bygdebok calls Peter by the name of Per.

Sooo interesting! Since the bygdebok isn't available online, what a gift that you researched in an archives in person!

Our info on Amund (son of Lars Hansen Staurustbakken) is that he emigrated ca 1879 (posted earlier), married Emma Olsdatter Moen in October 1880 in Albin (or one of those allied small congregations). Maybe needs another look since the bygdebok contradicts.

So Mari Olsdatter had three babies after Amund who all died before 1865 census. Then she died late 1864 (in child birth?). A hard life.

Thank you so much for all of this! I never heard of the bygdebok books. I am still waiting for Kari's records to arrive to ensure that she is the correct one. Will post any information when it arrives. This is so much more than I could have ever have imagined finding and I am so grateful to you all! lyndal40, I will send an email through Ancestry.
