There are not a lot of candidates for the mother of Kari Olsdatter whose baptism record was posted by Jackie. Here is about the only candidate in the 1865 Norwegian Census. She is living with her sister Goro.

http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1865&knr=0514&kenr=005&bnr=0034&lnr=00

In 1875 she is listed as Sigri.

http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/tidslinje.aspx?idi=2080378

And a baptism record for Goro Pedersdatter. Not unusual but interesting is that her mothers name is Kari Olsdatter as well.

Name: Goro Pedersen
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 21 feb 1821
Baptism Date: 18 mar 1821
Baptism Place: Lom,Opland,Norway
Father: Peder Pedersen
Mother: Karie Olsdr
FHL Film Number: 125511

See also number 31

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=9242&idx_id=9242&uid=ny&idx_side=-67

And a good candidate for Sigrid

Name: Sigrie Pedersen
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 4 apr 1829
Baptism Date: 19 apr 1829
Baptism Place: Lom,Opland,Norway
Father: Peder Pedersen
Mother: Karie Olsdr
FHL Film Number: 125512

Probably her as number 70, but the name of the mother does not look like Karie Olsdatter.

In the 1865 and 1875 Norwegian Census lists, there is a son Peder Tostensen born 1861. Here is his baptism record, also out of wedlock.

Peder Torstensen in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Peder Torstensen
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 14 jul 1861
Baptism Date: 25 aug 1861
Baptism Place: , Lom, Opland, Norway

FHL Film Number: 307267

See also number L111, same farm name Stam??? runs through these records.

I think it says her 3rd indiscretion.....

So I searched through the Lom registers from 1848-1861 looking for Sigri's #2. The closest one I could find was Thorø L22 . Her mother's name is Synne Pedersdatter:

Source information: Oppland county, Lom, Parish register (official) nr. 6A (1837-1863), Birth and baptism records 1856, page 201.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8915&idx_id=8915&uid=ny&idx_side=-203

Thorø above may not be a child of Sigrie. Here she is with her mother in the 1865 census, so it appears Synne is its own name rather than a version of Sigrid:
http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/ft/person/pf01038058002387

There is a Synne Pedersdatter age 46 dying in Lom in 1868.

I guess next step would be to look to see if Sigri Pedersdatter ever left the parish for elsewhere or if she had a stillborn child for her #2 indiscretion.

Not sure I remember if the 1875 census for Sigri Pedersdatter has been posted before, here it is again:
http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/ft/person/pf01052088001893
001 01 Guro Pedersdatter 1821 Lom Inderst ug Dagarbeide og Spinding b
002 02 Sigri Pedersdatter 1829 Lom Inderst, Søster ug Dagarbeide og Spinding b
003 02 Peder Tostensen 1861 Lom Dennes Søn b

Residence (house/farm/property)
0011 Eide (plads) 40, 41

The wedding record for Peder Pedersen lists him as 29, meaning he was born about 1791. Here is a baptism record for Peder Pedersen born in Lom at about the right time.

Peder Pedersen in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Peder Pedersen
Gender: Male
Baptism Date: 14 nov 1790
Baptism Place: Lom,Opland,Norway
Father: Peder Joensen
Mother: Anne Larsdr
FHL Film Number: 125511

See also 4th record down on right hand page.

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=9241&idx_id=9241&uid=ny&idx_side=-108

And probably the family in the 1801 Norwegian Census.

Amund Larson (half brother to Sigurd, right?) is a full brother to a Hans Larsen. Here is his baptism L112:
Source information: Oppland county, Lom, Parish register (official) nr. 6A (1837-1863), Birth and baptism records 1851, page 148.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8915&idx_id=8915&uid=ny&idx_side=-150

This is the second illegitimate child of the faher Lars Hansen and the frist of mother.

I am a little confused about Sigurd, I thought he was the one born in the US and that the three brothers were Amund, Hans and Ole?

As in this census.

Here's a recap / overview without attempting a high level of precision.

Lars Hansen (1823-1893) married twice in Norway. He had three known (so far) children with Mari Olsdatter. The youngest (Amund) was age 16 when Lars had a child (Lars junior) in 1872 with Kari Olsdatter (1848-1920). Amund was even older when Lars and Kari married. Thus the picture painted is of a man who had an early family, and a second, late family - like Bing Crosby did. ;-)

Birth years are approximate and the list represents what seems to me to be true given records posted so far.

One out-of-wedlock birth to Lars and unknown mother (not yet posted) prior to birth of Hans

EARLY FAMILY
Hans Larson 1851 (Hans Larson Rusten) m Marit Olsdatter Moen
Ole S. Larson 1854 - married Marith Olga Hanson Blegenstad
Amund S. Larson 1856 married Emma Olsdatter Moen
...no additional children appear in 1875 census...
LATE FAMILY
Lars Larson 1872 married Inga Hjelter
Mari (Mary Rusten Larson) 1873 married Carl Serkland
Peder Larson 1875 married Hilda Anderson
Kari Larson 1878 may have died before 1885
Sigurd Larson 1882 - first child born in. USA
Hans Thomas Larson ("Thomas H") 1886 m Anna Saathoff, m Ollie Rolland (1st m Bray)
Olaf Ottesen Larson 1886
Hans Olaf Larson 1887 m Minnie Wethal

(The Watonwan county record of birth for the twins has them as Thomas L Hansen and Olaf L Hansen).
....
The children's mother Kari enters St Peter state hospital ca 1888 (per residency stated 1905 census). Her oldest birth child (Lars junior) is about age 16 and youngest is an infant. Sigurd is about age six. The youngest children could possibly be placed with other families, of necessity, at this time. Lars dies 1893. Available records demonstrate the children are definitely dispersed now. Records show, in some cases, children remaining for years in a family but identified as servants, not adopted children. In the circumstances, likely no one is teaching the children who they are or nurturing birth family bonds. Added to the usual pressures, such as time passing, that cause family members to drift apart, some disconnection (and lack of facts or confusion re facts) is a natural outcome. Obviously some bonds were maintained, between Sigurd and Lars, Peter, and Mary at least and probably with the early family siblings as well.

Because of the notation on Hans' birth in the register it appears that Lars had another illegitimate child with some other woman before 1851.....

Added the first-born to the recap.

Sigurd's half-brother Ole Larsen confirmation record says he was born 27 March 1854:
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20070115620641.jpg

Birth in Lom. -- Ole
27 March 1854; baptized 12 May
Parents Lars Hansen Sønstenes (?) and Mari Olsdatter
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20070130630185.jpg

Below, a candidate for Ole:

Find a grave:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=68086783

Ole S Larson died 26 Nov 1934 in Rockford, Spokane, Washington
per Washington state archives website, death record: father Lars Larson, mother Mary. So, wrong father surname, but it is typical that descendants (informants on a death record) will say that their parent's father has the same surname as the parent.
died 1934

Find a Grave lists the following (I haven't checked accuracy yet):
Ole S Larson
born 27 March 1852 in Lom, Oppland, Norway
d 26 Nov 1934 Rockford, Spokane, Washington
Spouse: Marith Olga Hansen 1858-1935
Children:
Lewis Elmer Larsen b Linden, Brown, Minnesota; died Kootenai county Idaho
Henry O Larsen b Saint James, Watonwan, Minnesota
Elmer Larson 1888
Olga Larson 1890
Ward Julius Larson b 1895
William Larson b 1898

Amund used the middle initial S; we theorized it refers to that hard-to-spell S farm name (Sønstenæss?). Amund lived in Brown county MN in 1880; he moved to Rockford, Spokane, Washington; at one point lived in Kootenai county Idaho.

Pretty sure this is the right Ole.

Marriage record for son Henry O Larson gives mother's maiden name as Marit Blegenstad.

OBIT here for a granddaughter of Ole S Larson. Lists survivors (your cousins, Nancy): Link
