You are correct. Note keeping and copies of documents are the best way for me to map out Anders life. The verbal information I've received from family and friends hasn't been very accurate and has not served me well.

I happen to be a source citation fanatic. I always try to encourage others to keep at least basic notes and to learn the value of same.

If the information Anders daughter-in-law gave me is correct, he married elizabeth southworth in 1923.

It's an either-or situation, Cindy. More than one Anders Salvesen is mentioned (I think there were five) because not enough starter information was available. We need USA info so the above was offered as a candidate on the US side, and either your Anders is this one, or that one, or.... Clearly the Anders who marries Inga in Manhattan 1925 is not your Anders since you've now confirmed that your Anders is the one married to Elizabeth and living in Braintree, MA.

Glad we found your family. Search GENI to find a public family tree (creator might be a cousin).

So your Anders has father Salve Andersen and mother Anne Jonsdatter. The farm names at the end of a person's name can change during the person's life.

As you saw, according to the 1910 census, Anders and Anders's siblings are
Anders born 24 June 1892
Jon born 19 Sep 1896
Bergtor born 02 Dec 1898
Jorgen born 21 March 1901
Kristine born 03 Sep 1903
Siri born 22 Feb 1906
Anna born 06 June 1908
Olav born 08 Sep 1910

It's possible more children were born after 1910.

In both the 1900 and 1910 census, as posted, the family lives at Tungenes, Hornnes in Evje, Aust-Agder.

Nice. In 1900 census this could be Salve Andersen's father Anders Bertosen, widower, and brother Gunder Andersen living at Nedre Lien in Hornnes:
http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste.aspx?ft=1900&knr=0936&kenr=002&bnr=0024

I say could be - Salve's marriage record will confirm father's name.
