Here is the daughter Lillian Faxvog in 1930:

Drown in a sea of Olsons or have some uniqueness with Faxvog?

According to a Family Tree, Caroline Hansen Olsen was named Karoline Sofie Hansen born in 1877. This is the most likely candidate for her baptism.

Karoline Sofie Olsen
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Karoline Sofie Olsen
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 10 mai 1877 (10 May 1877)
Baptism Date: 24 jun 1877
Baptism Place: , Lenvik, Troms, Norway
Father: Hans Olai Olsen
Mother: Hanna Maria Hansdr

See also number 21.

Here is the family in the 1900 Norwegian Cenus. Karoline Sofie is no longer living with them. However Olga Regine a daughter is. This could be the future wife of Torstein. The two brothers married two sisters.

One thing that bothers me a little is how did the families named Olsen or Faxvog ever get to together with the family named Svendsen and where did that happen. Also we tracked down Auden and Caolina in Minneapolis by using the statement of Borghild Jensen future wife of Sverre Sigurd Svendsen that she was going to visit Caroline Olsen. How did Borghild Jensen from Østfold even know a Karoline Sofie Hansen from Troms.

Too many questions still left for my liking.

If nothing else, it's a scratching post to keep the claws sharp and in good working order!

You are right there doesn't appear to be any obvious connection between the two sets of names except where they ended up in US.

There is not a lot of time for Borghild in US between her arrival and her marriage. Did she know Sverre before in Norway or was it a long distance lovelorn correspondence romance, or an immediate fall in love kind of thing?

We can go back and look at all Caroline Olson in Minneapolis in 1905, no matter their marital status. There wasn't an address in Minneapolis given in the Boston record?

Went back and looked at the ELCA record for the marriage of Sverre Sigurd and Borghild that Jacike found earlier. The Where Born (Hvor fodt) column for Sverre Sigurd states Xania ie Christiania and for Borghild states Fredrickstad. Witnesses are a little hard to read, best guess, Clement Christensen and Ole Verseth?

Sigurd Svendsen
in the U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Records, 1875-1940
Name: Sigurd Svendsen
Event Type: Marriage
Marriage Date: 23 Dec 1905
Marriage Place: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Spouse: Borghild Urdahl
Spouse Birth Place: Frdseshad
Church Name: Bethany
Church Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

They were married at Bethany Luteran Church which is on 36th Avenue not far from 21st Avenue So, one of the early addresses of Sverre and Borghild.

The Olsen/Faxvog family had most of their records from Bethelem Lutheran Church, which is on Lyndahl Av So, not far from Abbot Av. So. where we found Auden (Andrew) and Carolina Olson.

The Svendsen's lived on the east side of south Minneapolis and the Olson/Faxvog's lived on the west side of south Minneapolis. Not a continent away but they were not neighbors and may not have even attended the same church.

Yes Jackie there was.

Caroline Olsen, 416 14th Avenue So. Minneapolis, Minnesota.

So this was in 1905 when we found that Andrew (Auden) and wife Caroline were living at 4725 Abbot Avenue So. I wonder if we have not found the wrong Caroline.

The Minneapolis city directory search for 1905 has a number of Caroline Olson / Olsen but none at 416 14th Ave S. The only Caroline on 14th Ave S is at 3141 and is employed as a housekeeper.

The address probably did exist at one time. However the intersection of 14th Avenue and 4th street was wiped out by Interstate 35W in the late 60's.

In the 1905 Minnesota State Census there were five Caroline Olsons or similar spelling born in Norway and living in Hennepin County.

Caroline Olson married to Ole, born 1854 with 8 children living at 823 Twentieth Avenue. Probably not in south Mpls but in North East Mpls.

Caroline Olson married to Magnus born 1862 with 2 children living at 5223 Lyndale Avenue So.

Caroline Olson married to Anton born 1869 with 3 children living at 2170 10th Avenue So.

Caroline Olson single born 1875 living at 2548 Nicollet Avenue

Mrs. Caroline S Olson married to Anden and well covered in this topic.

I am very interested in this Olsen Family Bible from 1881.
The name inside the cover was my uncle, Auden Olsen Faxvog. Many of the names in the previous posts are my relatives from Norway and Minneapolis.
My email is faxvogfred@gmail.com.
