Hmm. I should have been more suspicious since there was no first name. It was a stillborn baby boy so never named. '
So still have question about Ole Kjersten and Ingeborg Kjersten if they were connected to the rest of them as they arrived in Canada. |

Did you mean Ole and his mother Gertrud Iversdatter? I think you already established that Ingeborg is a daughter of Tosten and Randi.on page 2. |

When Ingeborg was born Tosten was listed as "fattiglem." So how did he get the money to come to US 1 year later. |

Here is a candidate for Ole born in 1866.
Ole Evensen in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927 Name: Ole Evensen Gender: Male Birth Date: 7 apr 1866 Baptism Date: 24 jun 1866 Baptism Place: Vang, Oppland, Norway Father: Even Johannessen Mother: Gjertru Iversdatter FHL Film Number: 125646 Reference ID: b6 p123
If I read the original record corectly he was born out of wedlock. See number 41
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=9000&idx_id=9000&uid=ny&idx_side=-10
No obvious connecton to the others bearing the Kjersted name in the arrival records. |

In the baptism record for Ole (link above), I noticed a Anne Iversdatter as one of the witnesses. Here from the 1865 Census is an Anne Iversdatter on the Kjersteen farm. I do not see a Gjertrude listed but this could very likely be her family.
1865 Census
I noticed from the 1865 Census posted on Tøsten Tøstensen that he was also born in Vangs Prgj, the same as Iver Thorstensen.. Is that the connection?
Maybe the baptism record for Tøsten Tøstensen
Name: Tosten Tostsensen Gender: Male Birth Date: 19 jan 1822 Baptism Date: 12 feb 1822 Baptism Place: Vang, Oppland, Norway Father: Tosten Iversen Mother: Kari Olsdatter FHL Film Number: 125646 Reference ID: b6 p56
See number 3 left hand page
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=9395&idx_id=9395&uid=ny&idx_side=-41
And here is his brother Iver born Jan 26, 1812. See middle of right hand page
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=9395&idx_id=9395&uid=ny&idx_side=-18
Thanks to Jackie for getting me back on the right track. So it is likely that Gertrude Iversdatter is a cousin of Tøsten Tøstensen.

This may be the baptism record for the daughter Gertrude, mother of Ole.
Gertrud Iversen in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927 Name: Gertrud Iversen Gender: Female Birth Date: 3 okt 1845 (3 Oct 1845) Baptism Date: 19 okt 1845 (19 Oct 1845) Baptism Place: Vang,Opland,Norway Father: Iver Tostensen Mother: Ingeborg Torgersdr FHL Film Number: 307321
Can not find the Digitalarkivet record. |

And the 1801 census list includes a Helge Andersen who was also a witness in the 1812 birth of Iver son of Tosten and his wife Kari. |
